Driven by technological breakthroughs, policy support and consumption upgrades, the Mini LED TV market will perform well in 2024. According to TrendForce's analysis, China's trade-in subsidies for home appliances will boost sales of large-size Mini LED TVs in 2024, and will also boost brand shipments to approximately 8 million units, an annual increase of 65% and an increase of 5.4% from previous estimates.
Entering 2025, the popularity of the Mini LED TV market remains unabated, and major brands continue to exert their efforts. According to incomplete statistics from LEDinside, as of now, nearly 24 new Mini LED products have been launched in 2025, covering many TV brands such as Hisense, TCL, Thunderbird, Skyworth, Konka, Vidda, Huawei, Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, and Toshiba.
The trend of larger sizes is more obvious
Judging from the market actions of Hisense, TCL, Skyworth, Huawei, Sony and other brands, 100-inch TVs have become an important focus of competition in the color TV industry this year. These brands have launched oversized Mini LED TVs and have made certain optimizations in terms of functional parameters, AI performance and price in order to occupy market share.
Specifically, Hisense launched a number of 100-inch Mini LED TV models this year, including UX, E8Q and E8Q Pro. Among them, the UX series has a maximum size of 116 inches and has up to 40,000 independent backlight partitions.
TCL has launched a variety of 98-inch Mini LED TV models, such as Q9L Pro, Q10L and Q10L Pro. In addition, TCL’s Thunderbird brand also offers 98-inch options in its 2025 Crane 7 Pro and 2025 Crane 6 Ultra series.
The X Pro 2026 QD-Mini LED TV released by Vidda provides the world's largest 116-inch size. The Mini LED TV A5F Pro jointly released by Skyworth and BOE provides versions up to 100 inches.
In addition, well-known brands including Huawei and Sony have also launched 98-inch Mini LED TV products, further enriching market choices.
RGB Mini LED TVs are emerging
In 2025, new trends will emerge in the Mini LED backlight TV market. Major TV brands such as Hisense, TCL, Samsung and Sony have demonstrated or launched TV models using RGB-Mini LED technology.
At CES2025, Hisense was the first in the world to showcase a mass-produced version of the RGB-Mini LED large-screen TV, which features independently developed RGB three-dimensional color-control LCD technology and an RGB light-color simultaneous control image quality chip. At the end of March, Hisense officially released the world's first RGB-Mini LED TV, with the 116-inch UX model priced at 99,999 yuan.
It is reported that RGB three-dimensional color-controlled LCD technology has realized the transformation of backlight from black and white to RGB multi-primary colors, and upgraded from single light control to light and color synchronization control. This makes the colors of the Mini LED backlight display more realistic and delicate, and the details richer and clearer.
In addition to Hisense, TCL also displayed its own RGB Mini LED prototype TV product at CES. Previous media reports stated that TCL may launch a backlight TV this year that combines its Vientiane partitioning technology and RGB-Mini LED technology.
Samsung also demonstrated an RGB Micro LED TV prototype at CES 2025. It is reported that Samsung has applied this technology to its 2025 TV product line and plans to launch 75-, 85-, and 98-inch 8K RGB Micro LED TVs this year.
Sony is also actively developing RGB LED backlight technology, and released a new generation system on March 14 this year, which can achieve a peak brightness of 4,000 nits. Sony plans to mass-produce the system in 2025, and the first commercial product equipped with this technology is expected to be unveiled at the CES show in January 2026.
Summary
Looking forward to 2025, the Mini LED TV market is expected to maintain growth. Technological progress is the core driving force. The increasing maturity of Mini LED backlight technology and the gradual reduction of production costs will enhance its market competitiveness. In addition, the introduction of corresponding industrial subsidy policies at the national level is expected to further reduce the terminal selling price of Mini LED TVs and stimulate market demand.
In addition, the expansion of Mini LED applications in monitors, laptops, and vehicles will help enhance the scale effect of the overall industry chain. However, the demand characteristics and competitive landscape of these markets are different from those of TV. Therefore, although the Mini LED TV market has broad opportunities, it is still necessary to pay attention to multiple factors such as technological evolution, competitive situation and application expansion in the future.
