Apple will release Mini LED display
According to MacRumors, Apple plans to launch a new monitor in the first quarter of 2023. This monitor will be equipped with a 27-inch screen and use a Mini LED screen. Compared with the traditional LCD screen used in Apple's previous generation monitor Studio Display, Mini LED has higher screen brightness and contrast. Combined with local dimming, it supports independent control of more screen areas and more flexible light and dark control. Mini LED is not a new screen material, but a screen backlight technology that upgrades the backlight of the liquid crystal layer, which means miniaturizing the LED lights in the backlight. Under normal circumstances, the LED backlight equipped with traditional LCD screens often only supports unified adjustment and cannot individually adjust the light and dark of a certain area. Therefore,When a black picture is presented, it is often a gray that is close to black.
The difference with Mini LED technology is that its backlight bulb is smaller in size, allowing more backlight bulbs to be integrated into a screen, and it also allows local dimming to achieve finer screen backlight partitioning than before, achieving a dynamic backlight effect that is closer to pixelation. Displaying a black screen can be achieved by turning off the backlight of the corresponding area, and the pure black background will look deeper.
