Apple's new display products introduce Mini LED technology, with Macroblock and Maoda taking the lead

Apple officially announced the new Mac Pro product line at the WWDC conference on the 4th, and introduced Mini LED architecture technology into the display to improve the image quality to 6K level, symbolizing the possibility of introducing Mini LED into high-end displays in the future. The legal person believes that as Mini LED technology matures, other notebook and display brands are expected to launch related models, which is expected to drive the mini LED supply chain accumulation and other IC design factories' shipments to gradually increase.

Although Apple has not officially adopted Mini LED as a backlight this time, Apple's first adoption of Mini LED architecture technology is equivalent to testing the water temperature before fully adopting Mini LED backlight. Therefore, legal persons are optimistic that the non-Apple camp has begun to adopt new technologies before Apple in recent years. It is expected that notebook, display and other manufacturers will be the first to introduce Mini LED backlights in the future to seize this new high-definition business opportunity.

IC design factories such as Macroblock and Maoda have already entered the Mini LED market. Among them, Macroblock has even reported that Mini LED related products will cooperate with Korean TV brands and are expected to begin mass shipments before the end of 2019. Macroblock has jointly developed Micro LED technology with Samsung. If the market matures, Macroblock will surely become an important partner of Samsung Display.

The legal person stated that Macroblock has now entered the Samsung LED movie screen supply chain. Thanks to customers' continued and stable purchase, the performance is expected to gradually recover. After entering the second half of the year, driven by the gradual shipment of Mini LED related products, the performance has the opportunity to grow upward again.

Maoda has successfully entered the Mini LED supply chain, mainly shipping gate-level drivers. The legal person pointed out that Maoda had entered the outdoor LED large screen market with power management ICs in the past. As its partners entered the Mini LED field, Maoda has not stopped its research and development and upgraded its products to meet Mini LED specifications. Although it is still in the small-volume supply stage, Maoda has obtained its entry ticket into the Mini LED market.
