BOE may win most screen orders for iPhone 15 and will hit the
Famous Apple industry chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted on the 4th that the latest survey shows that BOE has defeated Samsung and won most display orders for the new iPhone 15 and 15 Plus in 2H23. If development and production go smoothly in the next few months, BOE will be the largest screen supplier for iPhone 15 and 15 Plus in 2H23, accounting for about 70% of the total (Samsung’s share is about 30%).
In the iPhone 14 series released in 2022, BOE only received orders for the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 display, and its shipments accounted for only about 12%-15%. Against the backdrop of a low base, Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the year-on-year growth in iPhone screen shipments in 2023 can easily reach 70%-100%.
It is worth noting that Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that BOE will ship a large number of LTPO displays for high-end iPhones in 2024 (Samsung and LG Display are also suppliers). "If BOE can obtain about 20%-30% of orders for high-end iPhone LTPO displays in 2H24 and maintain about 70% of shipments of low-end iPhone displays in 2H24, BOE will have the opportunity to become the largest display supplier for the new iPhone in 2H24."
After the above news came out, BOE's A shares immediately rose slightly in volume.
The iPhone 15 series is Apple’s annual flagship phone that has not yet been released. It is expected to be released this fall, and related configuration and price news are already overwhelming.
In terms of screens, Apple’s iPhone 14 series uses different levels of OLED screens. According to the news, the iPhone 15 series will continue to use this type of screen.
In comparison, the upgrades of the iPhone 15 series in terms of lenses and chips are even more eye-catching.
Technology media MacRumor cited the latest report from Haitong International Securities analyst Pu Deyu that the basic iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be equipped with the same main lens as the iPhone 14 Pro, equipped with a three-layer stacked image sensor and a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens; the high-end models iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be equipped with a 12-megapixel periscope lens for the first time.
In addition, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone Pro Max are likely to become the first models equipped with a 3-nanometer chip (A17 chip) produced by TSMC, and the memory may be upgraded to 8GB, which will greatly improve the power consumption efficiency of the chip.
