China’s first Micro LED production line will achieve mass production in Chengdu

According to Sichuan Economic Network, at the World Display Industry Conference on November 30, Visionox Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Xu Fengying revealed that the first domestic Micro LED production line built by the company will achieve mass production in Chengdu.

It is understood that the Micro LED production line was built by Chengdu Chenxian, a company jointly owned by Visionox. It is the first Micro LED pilot line in China that covers everything from driving backplanes and mass transfer to modules. According to the data, Chenxian Optoelectronics was established in 2020. It is a Micro LED project operation entity jointly invested and established by Visionox and Chengdu State-owned Investment Platform. It carries out R&D and production work around key technologies such as mass transfer, drive and detection, chip design, and colorization. In the second year after its establishment, Chenxian Optoelectronics announced a three-year strategic cooperation with Xiamen Sanan Semiconductor, a subsidiary of San'an. The two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of Micro LED chip development, mass transfer, and production line automation. The goal is to jointly develop the first Micro LED mass production product for end customers. In July of the same year, Chenxian Optoelectronics successfully developed a 1.84-inch Micro LED wearable product with a pixel density of 326 ppi; in November, Chenxian Optoelectronics launched a splicable 4.82-inch Micro LED single-screen sample for high-end TVs with a pixel density of 50 PPI, RGB pixels, and a brightness of more than 600 nit. In addition, Chenxian Optoelectronics hasAt the beginning of this year, it successfully lit up a 12.7-inch Micro LED splicing display that can be used in high-end TVs. This product is the first self-developed glass-based Micro LED splicing screen in mainland China, and it uses 25 micron LED chips for the first time. In terms of patents, as early as November 7, 2021, Visionox announced that it would transfer 506 independently developed Micro LED-related patents to Chenxian Optoelectronics for 300 million yuan, mainly involving six categories: backplane technology, mass transfer technology, drive technology, packaging and module technology, equipment technology, and terminal technology.
