LED can enter thousands of households, so it will definitely benefit people's livelihood; LED energy saving and emission reduction are very significant, which is of great practical significance for building an ecologically civilized country; LED upstream and midstream, the threshold is relatively high, technology-intensive and capital-intensive, it is a typical advanced manufacturing industry, and an indispensable part of Made in China 2025; LED downstream, the threshold is relatively low, suitable as an entry point for mass entrepreneurship and innovation.

Currently, the LED industry structure is in a period of adjustment. Major international manufacturers are gradually fading out because they no longer have very obvious competitive advantages. Most domestic upstream and midstream companies are facing the dilemma of industry reshuffle due to serious product homogeneity and vicious competition at low prices. Only companies with technological advantages and product features can survive and develop.

In this context, the 13th Five-Year Plan for the LED industry will play an important role in promoting the healthy and sustainable development of my country's LED industry. Suggestions:

1. Guide LED downstream enterprises to carry out technological and product innovation and launch high-quality and high-efficiency LED application products. At present, the quality of LED application products in my country's market is uneven. There are not many high-quality and high-light-efficiency products. LED lighting products with poor color quality and low light efficiency do not fully demonstrate the advantages of LEDs. Enterprises need to reasonably optimize and innovate in aspects such as device operating current density and multi-color phosphor configuration.

2. Encourage and support LED upstream and midstream enterprises to continue technological innovation, launch distinctive and differentiated products, and prevent homogeneous low-price vicious competition from the source. There is still a lot of room for development of LED technology, and there are still many important issues worthy of study. Today's LED lighting technology route based on blue LED plus phosphor is a transitional technical solution. In the near future, it is likely to develop into a 100% LED lighting technology that does not require phosphor. By then, the color quality, light safety and light efficiency of LED lighting products can be coordinated to a more ideal state. It is recommended that the country increase its support for new technology innovation.

3. An important breakthrough has been made in the localization of high-end equipment in the LED industry. The performance is basically the same as that of imported equipment, and some performances have advantages. However, because the scale of production and sales is still relatively small, there is currently no cost advantage compared with imported equipment. To this end, it is recommended that the state introduce relevant policies to provide certain subsidies to companies that use domestic high-end equipment, and promote the large-scale production and sales of domestic high-end equipment.
