Cross-border optical communications? Minbao Optoelectronics plans to acquire 51% equity of Xiazhi Precision
On April 8, Minbang Optoelectronics issued an announcement disclosing that it planned to acquire 51% of the equity of Xiamen Xiazhi Precision Technology Co., Ltd. held by Xiamen Maida for 244.8 million yuan in cash.
After the completion of this transaction, Xiazhi Precision will become a holding subsidiary of Minbo Optoelectronics and be included in the consolidated statements. In addition to this cash acquisition, the company also plans to purchase the remaining 49% equity of Xiazhi Precision from Xiamen Maida through the issuance of shares.
As the target of this acquisition, Xiazhi Precision focuses on the research and development, production and sales of micro drill bits, and provides professional micro-hole processing technology solutions to the world's leading PCB customers.
Xiazhi Precision’s core products are tungsten steel micro drills used for PCB, FPC, IC carrier boards and AI PCB processing, with sizes ranging from 0.09mm to 0.35mm. It is particularly good at the R&D and manufacturing of extremely small diameter micro drills below 0.20mm.
As the demand in the PCB industry rises, the demand in the PCB drill needle industry grows. Xiazhi Precision has extensively deployed in high-end fields such as AI servers and low-orbit satellites, and has the R&D and production capabilities of PCB drill needle core production equipment. Minbang Optoelectronics stated that in the future, Xiazhi Precision can rely on the company's mature production and quality control system to further improve the high precision and quality batch stability of its products.
Minbang Optoelectronics indirectly enters the optical communication track?
Minbang Optoelectronics is mainly engaged in the research and development and sales of LED green lighting fixtures. Through this acquisition, Minbang Optoelectronics will expand its business to the PCB drilling track, promote the company's strategic transformation, and at the same time, it will indirectly enter the optical communications track, which has become increasingly popular recently.
Specifically, PCB drill needles are known as industrial embroidery needles in the electronics industry and are special core consumables in PCB manufacturing. Its core function is to penetrate the interlayer points of the circuit board through precise drilling to build a point-to-point path to achieve stable connection of electronic parts, which is the basis for signal transmission and function integration. Therefore, there is also a close indirect relationship between PCB drill bits and optical communication technology, and they are key basic consumables that support the manufacturing of optical communication hardware.
The core components of optical communication equipment, such as optical modules, must rely on high-precision PCBs. This type of high-frequency and high-speed PCB requires micron-level high-precision microholes of 0.05-0.15mm to be drilled on the circuit board to achieve high-density interconnection (HDI) of multi-layer circuits.
The accuracy of PCB drill pins directly determines the hole position accuracy and hole wall roughness, which in turn affects the transmission loss, impedance control and signal integrity of high-speed signals. These are the core indicators of high-frequency optical communication PCB.
As the demand for optical communications increases, the demand for high-precision PCBs in optical modules increases, as well as the demand for PCB drill pins. Therefore, through this acquisition of Xiazhi Precision, Minbo Optoelectronics is expected to maintain its main LED lighting business in the future and at the same time seize new opportunities in the rapidly developing fields of AI and optical communications through the PCB drilling business.
