Daktronics wins $3.2 million order for New York subway

Daktronics, a supplier of large-size LED video walls, information displays, scoreboards and control systems for sports, commercial and transportation applications, recently announced that it has won a US$3.2 million order from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for the New York City Subway.

The order includes 630 P6mm railway platform LED displays to provide guidance and information services to passengers. This contract has also become the largest order in the history of Daktronics in the field of transportation digital display.

Daktronics displays are seen by millions of subway passengers every day and play an integral role in providing timely and effective messages to passengers. As part of the subway system's Public Address Information System (PACIS), the full-color LED large screen provides passengers with next-train arrival and destination information, as well as graphic information. Its text-to-speech feature can assist visually impaired passengers.

It is expected that all 630 LED displays will be installed in July 2017.
