Everlight wins the patent battle and is expected to have smooth access to the North American market

On May 10, Everlight Chairman Ye Yinfu said that Everlight has won the patent dispute with Nichia in the United States. In the future, Everlight is expected to have unimpeded access to the North American market, and there are also alternatives in the Japanese market. Optimistic about the prospects of LED, Everlight has successfully raised NT$5 billion (the same below, equivalent to approximately RMB 1.013 billion) and will carry out a three-year production expansion plan with a total amount of NT$10 billion (equivalent to approximately RMB 2.025 billion).

As for the prosperity of the LED industry, Ye Yinfu said that the second half of this year will be better than the first half.

Ye Yinfu recently went to the United States to participate in the New York Lighting Exhibition. He just got off the plane yesterday morning and went to the Chang Wing Fat Foundation in the afternoon to participate in the "Behold! Rainbow" Thanksgiving Concert specially planned by his wife Jian Wenxiu for the Beijing Municipal Autistic Children Social Welfare Foundation. He also served as a volunteer at the scene, chatting with the autistic children and their mothers.

This is the first time Ye Yinfu has appeared in public since Everlight won the patent war with Nichia in the United States. Ye Yinfu said that Everlight's victory in this patent war will be very helpful to Everlight in the European and American markets. In the future, Everlight can develop the lighting and backlight markets. The director of Everlight revealed that at this New York Lighting Show, just after the patent verdict with Nichia was announced, the number of on-site inquiries and visitor rates increased significantly.

As for the Japanese market, Ye Yinfu said that in this wave of patent wars, some of Nichia's patents were declared invalid among a series of elements, so the scope of the patents was reduced. Everlight has also found alternatives in Japan. Everlight will have good news in the Japanese market in the future.

The issuance of 5 billion yuan of convertible corporate bonds by Everlight has been completed, with a conversion price of 80 yuan and a premium rate of 110%. Ye Yinfu said that Yiguang's issuance of convertible bonds is mainly in response to the capital needs for expansion of production. It is expected to invest 10 billion yuan in the next three years. It should be the largest expansion of production among Taiwanese peers. Facing competition from the mainland, "if it does not expand, it will be eliminated."

Ye Yinfu emphasized that LED is an industry with great growth, and the market does have demand, so Everlight will carry out large-scale expansion of production. It is understood that Everlight’s capital expenditure this year reached 2.5 billion yuan (equivalent to approximately 506 million yuan). As for the LED boom this year, Ye Yinfu said that the second quarter will be slightly better than the first quarter, and the second half of the year will be better than the first half. Yiguang’s profit this year is also expected to be better than last year.
