Yesterday (7/14), Beneq, a Finnish atomic layer deposition (ALD) equipment supplier, announced that its Micro LED atomic layer deposition equipment has received additional orders from leading customers.

It is understood that atomic layer deposition technology plays an important role in material precision control and surface passivation. It can achieve ultra-thin consistent coatings with atomic-level precision and can effectively deal with key difficulties in Micro LED production, such as surface defect passivation, sidewall protection, transparent conductive oxide deposition and final passivation process, thereby improving device efficiency and long-term reliability.
Beneq's multi-chamber architecture supports a variety of materials and processes, helping customers optimize optical and electrical performance and achieve seamless transition from laboratory to mass production. According to reports, customers mainly use its Micro LED equipment to achieve monolithic integration of Micro LED and driving electronics on a single core. It can be seen that the terminal application scenario may be wearable devices such as AR.
It is also worth mentioning that Beneq was wholly acquired by Sirui Intelligent in 2018. The latter built it into an overseas R&D center. By integrating Beneq's more than 30 years of mature application of ALD coating technology and domestic industrialization advantages, it focuses on industrial coating application fields such as emerging semiconductors, pan-semiconductors and nano-optics.
