The pure red perovskite LED created by the team based on the "three-dimensional perovskite heterojunction" has achieved internationally leading high performance in terms of peak external quantum efficiency, maximum brightness, and efficiency roll-off.

Nanolumens and AU Optronics develop Micro LED display

On May 8, US LED display company Nanolumens announced that it has reached a strategic partnership with AUO Display Plus. The cooperation will be based on Nanolumens' professional capabilities in creative LED display design and integration and AUO Display Plus' technical capabilities in Micro LED and commercial display manufacturing fields to jointly create customized display systems for industries such as transportation, corporate offices, retail, public art and cultural institutions.

Teams from Shenzhen University of Science and Technology and other universities released Micro LED underwater wireless optical communication architecture

According to news on May 7, researchers from three universities including Shenzhen University of Technology proposed a new underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) architecture based on Micro LED. The researchers designed a large gallium nitride Micro LED array with 5,000 chips fabricated through flip-chip technology. The array can achieve transmission rates of 165 Mbps and 90Mbps at distances of 37.7 meters and 73.5 meters respectively. This technology enables high-speed and long-distance transmission in underwater environments.

Vuzix and German institutions have produced high-performance Micro LED backplane samples

On May 6, the American smart glasses company Vuzix and the German research institution Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems jointly announced that they had produced the first batch of high-performance Micro LED backplane samples. It is reported that the CMOS backplane supports resolutions above 1080P and can drive monochrome or full-color micron-level Micro LED arrays.

Swedish company showcases first pyramid structure Micro LED display prototype

On May 5, Swedish Micro LED technology company Polar Light Technologies (PLT) announced that the company has successfully manufactured its first microdisplay prototype based on its own patented pyramid structure Micro LED (μLED) technology. The microdisplay prototype combines a monochromatic μLED front substrate made of PLT pyramid structure Micro LED and a high-performance CMOS backplane from Korean semiconductor company SAPIEN. The flip-chip bonding process was completed by Finetech, a developer of chip bonding solutions.

VueReal launches latest reference design kit to accelerate Micro LED commercialization process

On April 29, Canadian Micro LED technology developer VueReal announced a major expansion of its Micro LED Reference Design Kit (RDK) product portfolio. VueReal's RDK kit is the industry's first Micro LED display solution that can be directly integrated and optimized for practical applications. The reference design kit contains pre-configured, integrable Micro LED display modules, which are suitable for automotive applications such as interior lighting and infotainment systems, as well as consumer electronics fields such as AR\VR and embedded smart displays.

Chitron North’s first domestic automotive-grade local dimming chip is mass-produced and shipped

On May 6, Chitron North announced that its independently developed China's first automotive-grade bridge chip ICNM7810B with integrated local dimming function has been mass-produced and shipped in domestic consumer-grade Mini LED display products. The chip supports FHD (1920×1080) 144Hz, has LVDS input and output interfaces and on-screen display functions, and supports up to 1600 zone dimming.

On May 8, Huawei Vision Smart Screen 5 SE was officially launched for sale, offering four sizes of 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch. The prices are respectively 2599 yuan, 2999 yuan, 3999 yuan and 5999 yuan. This is the first time that the SE series is equipped with Mini LED technology and is equipped with Huawei’s self-developed Honghu chip. The screen supports 4K resolution, has 1,000 nits peak brightness, 20-bit fine light control, 125,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and 130% BT.709 wide color gamut.

LG Electronics releases 31.5-inch 4KMini LED medical surgery monitor

According to news on May 1, LG Electronics America launched a 31.5-inch Mini LED 4K surgical display-32HR734S. The display resolution is 3840x2160, has 1500 local dimming areas, and covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The peak brightness of the display can reach 2000cd/m2, and the dynamic contrast ratio can reach up to 1,000,000:1.

LG Electronics supplies LED movie screens to Korean cinemas

According to news on May 6, LG Electronics announced that it will supply the LED movie screen "LG Miraclass" to the MegaBox COEX cinema branch located in Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea. The movie screen has five adjustment levels, from 48nits to a maximum of 300nits. On May 7, according to "Meizhou Daily", Bomin Electronics' new-generation electronic information industry investment and expansion project, Chuangxin Intelligent Park, is accelerating construction. At present, the main project of the project has entered the final stage and is expected to be put into use before the end of May. ams OSRAM’s revenue in the first quarter was 820 million euros

ams OSRAM's 2025 Q1 financial report showed that its revenue during the reporting period reached 820 million euros (approximately RMB 6.706 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 3% and a month-on-month decrease of 7%, exceeding the midpoint of guidance expectations; adjusted interest rates Profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization was 135 million euros, a year-on-year increase of 9%; the adjusted profit margin before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization was 16.4%; the adjusted net loss was 23 million euros, which was better than the loss of 35 million euros in the same period last year.

Signify achieved sales of 1.448 billion euros in the first quarter

Aixtron’s Q1 order revenue reached 132 million euros, exceeding the same period last year

In Q1, Aixtron’s revenue was 112.5 million euros (approximately RMB 926 million), down 5% year-on-year; gross profit was approximately 34.1 million euros, down 22% year-on-year, and gross profit margin was 30%; profit before interest and tax (EBIT) was approximately 3.3 million euros, down 67% year-on-year, and EBIT margin was 3%. Driven by the continued growth in application demand for gallium nitride and silicon carbide power electronic equipment, Aixtron’s new Q1 orders totaled 132.2 million euros.
