Incandescent lamps are included in the "negative list" of building materials, hundreds of billions of lighting market space to be explored

Recently, the Beijing Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Committee, the Municipal Planning Commission, and the Municipal Municipal and Municipal Appearance Committee jointly released the "Catalogue of Building Materials Promoted, Restricted and Prohibited in Beijing". In this "negative list", a number of building materials such as incandescent lamps that are not environmentally friendly, have high energy consumption and have short lifespans are included in the prohibited list. The industry believes that this is a good thing for the LED lighting industry.

The withdrawal of incandescent lamps from the market and their elimination has long been on the "timetable", which can be said to be the general trend. At the same time, the cost of LED lighting continues to decrease, and the price becomes more affordable. Just in February this year, 13 companies formed an alliance with Xiaomi to promote smart lighting. This move was considered to be exploring LED "gold mines."

Incandescent lamps will be phased out next year

According to the "Roadmap for the Phase-out of Incandescent Lamps in China (Draft for Comments)" published by the National Development and Reform Commission, starting from October 1, 2016, the sale and import of incandescent lamps for general lighting of 15 watts and above are prohibited.

Why should incandescent lamps be phased out? It is understood that most incandescent lamps will convert 90% of the energy consumed into useless heat energy, and less than 10% of the energy will become light. This consumes a lot of electricity. As for lighting time, the service life of this type of lamp usually does not exceed 1,000 hours.

According to estimates, China's lighting electricity consumption accounts for about 12% of the total electricity consumption of the entire society. If high-efficiency lighting products are used to replace incandescent lamps, there is huge potential for energy conservation and emission reduction. Taking a family as a unit, the lighting produced by a 60-watt incandescent bulb can roughly meet the needs of family life, and an 11-watt energy-saving lamp can satisfy the same lighting. However, if it is replaced by a higher-tech LED, it only requires 3.5 watts, or at most 4 watts. One is 4 watts and the other is 60 watts. If you replace all incandescent lamps with LEDs, you may only need to pay 1/15 of the electricity bill.

13 companies have allied with Xiaomi to enter smart lighting

Companies that have established cooperation with Xiaomi include Yaming, Sunshine, Hongyan, Opple, Philips, Mulinsen, Credonic, Tridonic, Yinghui, Bainian, CDH, Dunge, etc. These companies will use Xiaomi's smart home wireless modules in their smart light bulbs this year. After such modifications, these devices will support interconnection with Xiaomi mobile phones and other hardware products to establish an intelligent lighting system.

At the end of last year, Xiaomi released the Yeelight smart bulb. This product uses LED lamp beads and supports 16 million variable colors. It is an exclusive accessory for Xiaomi routers. It is plug-and-play and supports remote control by mobile phones and customized lighting scenarios. It is priced at 129 yuan.

Although smart light bulbs are more expensive than traditional light bulbs, according to Xiaomi Chairman Lei Jun, the cost of Xiaomi smart modules has now dropped to 22 yuan, and the cost is expected to drop to 15 yuan within one year and 10 yuan within two years. It is said that Xiaomi’s intelligent hardware team can transform ordinary home appliances into intelligent products within 1-2 years.

Promote the development of smart homes

Although traditional home lighting is very practical, the one-button-one-light lighting method is too mechanical and outdated. The owner must press a button to turn it on and off every time he enters and exits the room, but he often wastes electricity because he forgets to turn off the lights. In addition, since there is no remote control function, the larger the room, the more inconvenient it is to use traditional lighting, which runs counter to the trend of larger residences.

In contrast, smart home lighting control systems have obvious advantages and can achieve the goals of safety, energy saving, comfort and efficiency. The so-called intelligent lighting is to control lighting based on the function of a certain area, different times of day, outdoor brightness or the use of the area. It is the basic part of the entire smart home.

Smart lighting systems are best known for their ability to be preset, meaning they have the ability to change lighting brightness into a series of settings. For example, in the "away from person" mode, if the owner dials the mobile phone, all the lights in the home will be turned off. In addition, the lighting system also has a power outage self-locking function, that is, when there is a power outage at home, all lights will remain off after the call comes. The smart home lighting system is actually about making home lighting scientific and reasonable. The system is equipped with an Internet of Things wireless smart socket, which can monitor the power consumption at home in real time and save electricity. According to estimates, ordinary households using smart home lighting systems can save up to 20%-30% on electricity bills every month.

Smart lighting is especially suitable for use in smart home systems based on WIFI technology. The owner only needs to install smart switches to replace traditional switches, and then install smart lamps in appropriate places. In smart home systems, smart lighting is the core part and is particularly suitable for large-area housing. It will make life convenient and comfortable. Nowadays, when many homes are equipped with smart homes, smart lighting is a very important selling point.

It is worth mentioning that smart lighting not only performs well in the home field, but also has good development prospects in the office, business and public facilities fields. The National Development and Reform Commission and six other ministries and commissions jointly issued the "Semiconductor Lighting Energy-saving Industry Plan", which clarified that the output value of the LED lighting energy-saving industry will be promoted by an average annual growth rate of about 30%, reaching 450 billion yuan in 2015. In the future, the markets for smart home lighting and smart road lighting will be greatly expanded. Even if calculated at a penetration rate of 20%, there will be hundreds of billions of market space to be explored.
