LED lighting tips from various countries: the Eight Immortals cross the sea and show their magic

The French government plans to distribute 1 million LED light bulbs to low-income families

According to French media The Connexion, the French government is planning to distribute 1 million LED light bulbs to low-income families in the country.

Minister of Ecology and Environment Ségolène Royal proposed that low-income families can exchange two incandescent or fluorescent light bulbs for two LED light bulbs that have a longer life and lower cost.

Currently, the Ministry of Ecology is discussing with the state-owned power company EDF when to start this action. The first batch of 100,000 LED lights is expected to begin distribution in October.

According to relevant reports, lighting applications in France account for 12% of energy consumption, equivalent to 56TWh per hour. LED light bulbs have important energy-saving significance.

In addition, Royal also plans to replace thousands of obsolete and inefficient radiators produced in the 1970s and 1980s with new light bulbs. Royal said: "These appliances consume a lot of energy and place a heavy burden on household budgets. These measures are to ensure that the laws of energy conversion directly benefit people, which is considered a good thing."

It is reported that most of the funding for the project will be provided by the certificates d'économies d'énergie (CEE).

Philips Lighting: Encourage consumers to use LED light bulbs

Philips Electronics (Thailand) recently announced the launch of an integrated marketing campaign aimed at encouraging consumers to use LEDs (light-emitting diodes) to save energy, reduce electricity bills, and also help protect the environment.

Chalermpong Darongsuwan, general manager of the company's lighting department, said: "During this event, customers will enjoy a 20% discount for every LED bulb they purchase. The event will last throughout September."

This event aims to encourage consumers to make changes through some integrated marketing communication activities. Inform consumers of the advantages of using LED lighting through television broadcasts, print advertisements, online marketing and roadshow activities in 16 provinces across the country.

The first road show at The EmQuartier, a luxury shopping mall in Bangkok, marked the official kickoff of the company's marketing activities. The highlight of this roadshow was the light bulb replacement charity competition between actress "Mint" Chalida Wijitwongtong and boxer Antoine Pinto, who demonstrated well how easy it is to replace LED light bulbs.

During the event, Philips will multiply the number of bulbs replaced by 1,000 baht as a reward, and all the proceeds will be donated to the charity of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Improved LED light bulb series products

In response to the increasing demand for LED lighting products in the second half of this year, Philips said that the company is launching a series of new and improved LED light bulb products. These products emit a wider range of light and their designs have been improved to provide homeowners with a mild brightness.

The company says these LED bulbs are very environmentally friendly. They contain no mercury and last up to 15 years (with average use of 2.5 hours per day), which is 2 times the life of a compact fluorescent light bulb.

It is estimated that approximately 20% of total electricity consumption comes from lighting consumption. Therefore, if all lighting systems were converted to energy-saving solutions, this would save a lot of energy resources and CO2 emissions would be significantly reduced.

Philips claims to be the leader in the global lighting industry. The company stated that it will continue to develop LED technology to provide high-quality, energy-saving lighting and cost efficiency.

Chalermpong said: "If we replace 50 million compact fluorescent lamps with LED bulbs, up to 292 kilowatt hours of electricity consumption will be saved every year, carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by more than 149,300 tons, and approximately 1.08 billion baht will be saved - and this money can be used for the development of the country and public facilities."
