So which display black technology is the most realistic in 2019? The author thinks it is Mini LED.
In fact, Mini LED is not a mysterious technology. It is essentially a miniaturized LED system. Large LED screens with larger spacing than Mini LEDs are often used outdoors, such as the outdoor LED large screens we see.
The LED system with a smaller pitch than Mini LED is called Micro LED. Currently, this small-sized screen has also appeared at the CES exhibition. However, Mini LED is mainly used for backlight systems, while Micro LED can be directly made into a large screen because of its small pitch. However, the cost of the latter is currently too high.

At this CES exhibition, Asus announced the launch of the ProArt Studio PA32UCX screen, which has a 4K 3840×2160 resolution and a color gamut covering 97% DCI-P3 and 89% BT.2020. The screen of this product is the first to use Mini LED technology.
Mini LED backlight is actually an upgrade of LED backlight. Originally, the LED light bar was just one strip, using a light guide plate to spread the brightness, while Mini LED backlight uses a large number of ultra-small LED light groups to achieve the backlight effect.
In this way, Mini LED backlight can not only make the number of dimming zones (Local Dimming Zones) more detailed, achieve high dynamic range (HDR) and present a high contrast effect, but also shorten the optical distance (OD) to reduce the thickness of the whole machine to meet the thinning requirement.
A 27-inch monitor may use tens of thousands of Mini LED modules, so it can be better dimmed. Whether it is used in professional display fields or e-sports fields, it can effectively improve the color gamut performance.
Judging from this CES 2019 exhibition, access and 8K technology lack content support, and folding screens are more of a gimmick with fewer actual application scenarios. By then Mini LED backlight will be more realistic, and many new products may appear in the second half of 2019.
Although it is essentially the backlight system behind the LCD, it does play a greater role in improving color.
