Luminus cooperates with nanotechnology companies to promote nano-Eu3+-based phosphor LED products

On May 8, nanoscience and luminescence technology company Seaborough announced that it has established a partnership with Luminus to bring the first LED product using nano-engineered Eu3+ (europium ion)-based phosphor to the market.

In this cooperation, Luminus will have priority access to the EuroLED™ phosphor technology provided by Seaborough. This technology helps enable high-quality, more sustainable warm white LED lighting applications.
It is reported that EuroLED™ technology is a patented nano-engineered Eu3+-based phosphor solution for warm white LED lighting. This solution emits a unique narrow-band red light. With this feature, EuroLED™ technology provides 10% to 20% more lumens per watt than existing phosphor technology in the color rendering index range of 80-90, significantly enhancing the sustainability of LED lighting. In addition, EuroLED™ processing does not require the use of hydrofluoric acid and is not oxygen-limited.
EuroLED™ technology is the first commercial phosphor to use nanomaterials whose particle size can be precisely controlled. The technology is also able to fine-tune optical properties and particle size, making it highly adaptable and applicable to a wide range of potential uses.
Seaborough stated that after years of research, the company is taking an important step to bring EuroLED™ technology to the market. Luminus stated that as an early adopter of innovative Eu3+-based phosphor technology, the company believes that this will produce major changes in the future development of the solid-state LED lighting industry.
