MICLEDI showcases new AlInGaP red Micro LED products

At the recent CES 2023 exhibition, MICLEDI, a fabless developer of Micro LED for AR, demonstrated red Micro LED products using AlInGaP as raw material.

This latest red Micro LED chip is the same as the blue and green Micro LED chips previously launched by MICLEDI. They are both built on a CMOS platform and do not contain arsenide. The chip can achieve a wavelength of 653nm within an extremely narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM) of <9nm, emitting red light similar to the color of a Ferrari sports car. In addition, compared with standard GaN Micro LED chips, AlInGaP red Micro LED chips adopt a new structural design.

It is worth noting that MICLEDI released a GaN red Micro LED in November last year, which can achieve a wavelength of 630nm at half-height full width in the 50nm range and can be integrated into a full-color Micro LED display module. This product is also on display at this CES 2023 exhibition.

Previously, MICLEDI has stated that GaN is only one of the production routes for red Micro LED. From AlInGaP to quantum dots and other technologies, all can be used as alternatives for red Micro LED chip production. The company will optimize the cost, reliability and performance range of each alternative to provide full-color Micro LED display modules with comprehensive performance for penetrating AR glasses.
