Nichuang: Micro LED costs have dropped significantly, and gross profit margin exceeded 30% in the second quarter of this year

Lee Yun-li said that Samsung's Micro LED TVs have been sold in major department stores in South Korea this year, and the popularity of the products is expected. Due to increased demand, costs will decrease; especially every 12 to 18 months, the number of unit transistor output can double, and the price may also drop by 50%.

He pointed out that micro-light-emitting diodes combine the semiconductor and display panel industries to place third-generation semiconductor compound chips on the backplane through "mass transfer" technology. At this stage, we are not worried about whether we can complete the mass transfer, but we are concerned about the quantity that can be transferred. From a realistic point of view, the number of mass transfers has made great progress, and has also led to a significant reduction in costs.

In addition, the ultra-high brightness and application of micro light-emitting diodesIt is used for transparent displays and can be spliced into oversized display panels. Li Yunli emphasized that not only can they be spliced almost infinitely to make oversized display screens; on the other hand, the chip is small enough to be used as a display device on glasses. The ultra-thin, high brightness, soft and high ductility can be applied to folding mobile phones.

Li Yunli explained that in order to quickly achieve cost reduction, in addition to popularizing products and increasing demand, Nichuang needs more customers and combines upstream and downstream to work together. Therefore, in addition to the output of the entire factory in 2022, there will be sales of equipment this year.

Peng Shuanglang, chairman of panel manufacturer AU Optronics and LED factory Fucai, said that the picture quality of micro-LED display panels is much better than five years ago. In addition to large-size applications, high-brightness and extremely small chips can be used in more applications. Fucai has planned to apply it to popular optical communication products.
