North American Lighting Strategy Conference focuses on North America’s LED “golden battlefield”

With the substantial increase in potential demand in the LED lighting market brought about by the global "white ban" effect, coupled with the decline in product prices, the process of LED lighting becoming popular is moving forward at an unprecedented speed.

Strong demand may lead to a new round of competition

Relevant data shows that Japan will continue to maintain a global LED market share of 25.6% in 2014, becoming the largest market for LED lighting. North America ranks second with a global LED market share of 23.1%. However, precisely because the European Union and Japan are at the forefront of the light source substitution market, their energy-saving market development pace is earlier than that of the North American market. Therefore, after the US government announced a comprehensive "white ban" on January 1, 2014, the North American market is gradually becoming a new industry growth hotspot. According to research by authoritative market research institutions, some companies that focused on exporting to Japan and Europe in the early stage have begun to move to the North American market.

It is understood that LED lighting accounted for only about 10% of new products launched in the US market in 2013, but is expected to reach 25% in 2014, and 50% in 2015. As a result, the compound growth rate of the U.S. LED lighting market from 2014 to 2015 will remain at 268%, and the relevant annual transaction amount will also reach US$11.7 billion.

The reporter learned from the "Guangdong LED Industry Operation Monitoring Report for the Fourth Quarter of 2013" released by the Guangdong Semiconductor Lighting Industry Joint Innovation Center and the Guangdong Emerging Industries Strategic Development Research Institute that in 2013, the total output value of the LED industry in Guangdong Province was 281.103 billion yuan, continuing to rank first in the country. Therefore, the export situation of Guangdong's LED industry is very representative of the national LED industry.

It is reported that in 2013, Guangdong completed exports of US$636.40 billion, an increase of 10.9%, and the growth rate was 3.0 percentage points higher than the national level. Affected by this environment, Guangdong's LED industry exports gained strong momentum in 2013.

The "Guangdong Province LED Industry Operation Monitoring Report for the Fourth Quarter of 2013" shows that from the first to the fourth quarter of 2013, the province exported LED-related products totaling 68.804 billion yuan. Although European and American countries continue to raise the entry threshold for LEDs, Guangdong's main LED product exports are still growing against the trend, and the export scale has reached a new high. This shows that the quality of Guangdong's LED products has begun to show results under the guidance of the benchmarking system and has withstood the quality test of new LED standards in Europe and the United States.

Judging from the distribution of export destinations of LED key field products, in 2013, the main export destinations for Guangdong’s LED key field products were still Asia, North America and Europe. Among them, the export value to North America was 20.543 billion yuan, accounting for 29.86% of the total exports.

Therefore, judging from the above-mentioned export situation of Guangdong’s key LED fields, North America is very likely to be the focus market for a new round of competition in the entire LED industry. Analysts from the "Emerging Industry Strategy Think Tank" also said that under the overall stable pattern of the global lighting market, the U.S. market is showing strong growth momentum and will quickly be passed on to the global LED market.

The struggling "North American Conference" came into being

Therefore, there is no doubt that the North American market will become a place where LED lighting companies compete. So, facing the huge demand but fierce competition in the North American market, most Chinese LED companies are like headless flies, struggling to control the real market demand in the complicated North American market environment, which can be said to be difficult. Wise men should take advantage of their own strength. How can LED companies quickly conquer the North American market and become invincible? Secret crossing or forceful attack? How many levels must be passed and how many generals must be killed? ……

It is reported that the Guangdong Semiconductor Lighting Industry Joint Innovation Center (GSC) and the Guangdong Emerging Industry Strategic Development Research Institute (under preparation) will cooperate with the Ministry of Commerce, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, DOE (U.S. Department of Energy), ES (Energy Star), and UL (Underwriters Laboratories), NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association), elite domestic and foreign lighting channel distributors, traders, engineers, and outstanding domestic lighting export companies and other institutional elites explored the road to channel development in the North American lighting market at the Grand Mercure Oriental Ginza Hotel in Shenzhen on May 24, 2014. As a result, the "North American Lighting Market Analysis and Channel Strategy Conference" (http://bmdh.gscled.com) came into being, which is expected to solve the urgent needs of LED companies.

It is understood that the conference presented the following highlights: 1) Authoritative: The Ministry of Commerce, Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, DOE, ES, UL, NEMA, GES and other domestic and foreign authoritative organizations interpret international export policies and the North American lighting market situation; 2) Professional: A large number of first-hand North American lighting market data reports and two-way interpretation of field surveys; 3) Practical: Excellent lighting comes out Share the practical experience of export enterprises; excellent North American lighting distributors and suppliers interpret the supply and demand chain and channel development paths; 4) High-end: For the first time, leaders such as outstanding domestic and foreign lighting distributors, lighting export-oriented enterprises, governments, researchers, etc. are gathered together, and the participating groups are accurately positioned and high-end; 5) Innovation: The first domestic professional conference focusing on North American lighting market channels;

According to Dr. Li Wenyu, Director of the Strategic Research Department of the Guangdong Semiconductor Lighting Industry Joint Innovation Center, who is in charge of the conference, in order to help Chinese LED companies fully understand the trade barriers and distribution pattern of the North American market, and better and faster develop the North American market, the conference will conduct in-depth analysis and discussion on the two major themes of "North American LED Export Market Environment Analysis and Trend Forecast" and "North American LED Market Pattern and Export Channel Innovation", hoping to help Chinese LED companies.
