Plagiarism is a habit! A Banner Picture Triggered a Big Question in the Industry

Not long after the World Intellectual Property Day, which calls for respecting knowledge, advocating science, and protecting intellectual property rights, an infringement news that "Liansen Optoelectronics directly stole the banner image of Qipuguang's website" miraculously appeared in front of the public in the midst of this storm. It caused a lot of discussion among industry insiders and surprised the editor. However, what surprised the editor was not the incident itself, but the industry chaos reflected behind the image theft incident.

First of all, it is plagiarism. As we all know, the technical threshold of the LED display industry is not high, but the profits are extremely high. Therefore, all small companies and small businesses with some funds are squeezing into the industry with the dream of "making a fortune" and becoming rich overnight. But without the guidance of technology and innovation, when they face the pressure brought by increasingly fierce market competition and rising raw material costs, they either sacrifice the quality of their products and blindly rely on price wars to compete; or they are prone to plagiarism like Liansen Optoelectronics, whether it is product design, raw materials, or technology, one word, copy! Copying what is convenient and what is easy to copy makes the entire LED display market chaotic and difficult to manage.

Secondly, there is a lack of industry standards. Li Zhi, general manager of Yiping Optoelectronics, once said in a special interview with this magazine: The LED display industry is an emerging industry. Many norms have not been established. Many measurement standards and definitions are not unified. The country has no relevant laws and regulations, leading to confusion in the industry.

Indeed, the current LED display industry has only been around for decades since its birth. Generally speaking, it is still relatively "new". There is no clear national standard definition for LED display products. Therefore, after the image theft incident, in order to protect its legitimate rights and interests, Chip Optoelectronics communicated with Liansen Optoelectronics many times, but was repeatedly shunned by the other party and refused to delete the pictures. In desperation, it could only choose to publicize the matter rather than raise the law. weapons to justify themselves.

Then the question is, in the context of the country’s 13th Five-Year Plan and the supply side, how should the LED display industry deal with plagiarism and lack of industry regulations?

The editor believes that from a macro perspective, both the country and industry associations should establish clear laws and regulations to standardize and display product standards and definitions, so that companies have laws to follow. From a micro perspective, the road is long and we will explore from top to bottom. LED screen companies must increase capital investment, increase research and development of new products, and increase product added value; at the same time, they must make technological breakthroughs and innovations to create their own core competitiveness.

In addition, companies must strengthen brand building, establish and identify the product brand, and make a clear promotion on the logo so that consumers can buy and use it with confidence. We must resolutely resist infringements.
