Qijing Optoelectronics: CPO business progress is clear, first-generation products are expected to be shipped in small batches in the second half of the year

Driver IC company Himx Optoelectronics (HIMX) and optical communications manufacturer Shangquan continue to advance in CPO co-packaging optical cooperation. The first-generation silicon photonic packaging solution is ready, supporting 1.6T and 3.2T transmission bandwidth, and is expected to be launched in the second half of this year. Initially shipped in small quantities; the second-generation solution supports 6.4T bandwidth, targeting AI data center applications with large-scale shipment potential. Currently, client product verification is nearly completed. Qijing aims to complete mass production preparations this year and accelerate volume starting in 2027.

In addition to existing solutions, the two parties also continue to work with the world's leading customers and partners to promote future generations of high-speed optical transmission technology and CPO architecture. R&D focuses include increasing the number of fiber channels, introducing more advanced optical designs, and improving optical precision to cope with the explosive growth in bandwidth requirements of HPC and AI data centers.

Shangguan completed a cash capital increase of 3.16 billion yuan in early March this year, and the funds will be used for research and development, equipment purchase and CPO mass production preparations. Qijing has previously participated in Shangguan's capital increase twice and became a shareholder in 2023 and 2024, and participated in this current increase; Qijing currently holds 5.36% of Shangguan's equity, with an average acquisition cost of 120.6 yuan per share.
