Rumor has it that "energy-saving lamps radiate a lot", the National Quality Inspection Bureau and the Standards Committee "speak"

Residents' homes, shopping malls, and roads are all inseparable from various lighting fixtures. Previously, there was a saying that "energy-saving lamps radiate a lot", which caused great repercussions in the society. Yesterday (10th) morning, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the National Standards Administration released 33 important national standards that have an impact on the economy, society and residents' lives. These include the "Evaluation of Lighting Equipment on Human Electromagnetic Radiation" that will be implemented on April 1 next year.
Zha Yuedan, deputy chief engineer of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Lighting Appliances and Beijing Electric Light Source Research Institute, told the author that it is actually a misunderstanding that energy-saving lamps have high radiation. Generally speaking, lighting power is proportional to radiation, so you can choose lighting equipment with low power. However, through many experimental tests, it has been found that the radiation of energy-saving lamps is actually very small, at microamps per square meter, which is much smaller than the radiation of mobile phones that we usually use.
In order to better judge, my country has specially formulated the national standard "Evaluation of Electromagnetic Radiation of Human Body by Lighting Equipment". Clear and detailed provisions are made for the evaluation of electromagnetic radiation from lighting equipment, and reference limits are provided. After the standard is officially implemented next year, nationwide sampling inspections will be organized for the radiation safety of lighting equipment.
