Shanghai Inner Ring Elevated Road Replacement with New LED Street Lights New Light Pole Can Resist Category 12 Typhoon

The elevated Puxi section of the Inner Ring Road, which has been in service for 20 years, will be replaced with new street lights. The street lamp renovation project was officially launched on August 11, and it is expected that it will take more than a year to complete all replacements. A total of 1,834 sets of street lights, including light poles, lamps and some bases, will be replaced on approximately 29 kilometers of elevated roads. The new street lights will use LED energy-saving light sources to improve the quality of road lighting.

Since the construction is carried out late at night and early in the morning, in order to avoid noise impact, the construction workers will work inside a special box.
The new light poles can withstand level 12 winds
The Puxi section of the Inner Ring Elevated Highway was fully opened to traffic in December 1994. After nearly 20 years of operation, the street lights on the elevated highway have also shown varying degrees of fatigue and even "disease".

Previous investigations have revealed that the surface of the light poles on the inner ring elevated road is rusty due to oxidation, the light transmittance of the light transmitting cover is reduced due to aging, the surface of the light reflector is oxidized and discolored, and the reflective performance is reduced. This not only affects the lighting level of the road, but also wastes lighting electricity.
At the same time, the foundation at the lower end of some street lamps and the bolts, nuts and other connecting parts between the light pole and the foundation are aging, corroded or damaged, causing the street lamps to have safety risks of overturning and collapse.

Passing by the Hutai intersection in the inner ring yesterday, I found that several light poles had been demolished in an area about 100 meters long in the outer ring. Shanghai Urban Construction Road and Bridge Group stated that this section of Hutai Road was the section that began to be renovated on August 11.

The new street lights will be improved and enhanced mainly in terms of safety, functionality and energy saving. The basic parts of the street lamps will be repaired or updated to increase their strength, and the new lamp poles will be able to withstand wind impacts of level 12.

At present, the street light source on the inner ring elevated is a high-pressure sodium lamp, each with a power of 250 watts. The new street lights will use LED energy-saving light sources and lamps with the characteristics of low power consumption, high luminous efficiency and long life, and the energy saving efficiency can reach 50%.
Replace lights from 12pm to 5am
"The current construction is only allowed to operate from 12pm to 5am." The relevant person in charge of the above-mentioned group said, "It is expected that it will take more than a year to complete all replacements."
Considering the impact of construction noise at night, "anti-collision wall construction safety protection device" was adopted during the construction. "The shape of this device is a box. Construction workers work inside to reduce the impact of noise on the surrounding area. Especially when removing the base of street lamps, the noise will be relatively loud. At the same time, it can also prevent the removed gravel from falling and prevent the spread of dust." Due to the relatively stuffy heat inside the box, construction workers need to be rotated once an hour.
