However, light pollution that causes disturbance to residents and traffic safety still occurs from time to time, and is even banned repeatedly. Nowadays, with the widespread application of LED displays, it is difficult to find places without LED displays in cities, and urban light pollution is everywhere. Therefore, it is urgent to control light pollution. But how should the LED display screen be held responsible for this? The editor believes that to untie the bell, one needs to tie the bell. To control light pollution, LED display manufacturers and display operators need to work together.

First of all, according to the viewing distance, surrounding environment and viewing angle, reasonably plan the display area and position so that the installation of the LED display maintains a certain inclination and a certain height, which can effectively reduce the impact of the direct light and stray light of the LED display on the surrounding environment. The LED display screen is installed 10 meters above the ground The height within m can also reduce the impact of stray light and direct light on the surrounding environment;

Secondly, the brightness adjustment technology is used to reduce the brightness of the LED display at night and restore the design brightness during the day; through the automatic brightness adjustment system, automatic conversion to appropriate The broadcast brightness should be suitable for the environment and avoid light pollution; when designing to play videos, use more high-purity colors, use more mixed colors, and try to use less low-purity, high-brightness colors as the main colors; the transfer between the previous video and the next video should be slow rather than urgent; do not use pictures that flicker too much.

In addition to the above methods, the problem of light pollution in LED displays can also be reduced by improving packaging devices. For example, the asymmetric optical design of in-line devices. We know that according to the line of sight of most viewers, the upper viewing angle of the LED display is the invalid display range of the LED display. Therefore, packaging manufacturers can use asymmetric optical designs for in-line devices to transfer part of the energy from the upper viewing angle to the visible range of the lower viewing angle, thereby increasing the effective brightness and thus avoiding light pollution to invalid viewing ranges such as residential buildings and the night sky.

For surface mount manufacturers, because the human eye’s perception of color is greater than its perception of light and dark, so instead of blindly pursuing high brightness and causing light pollution in outdoor environments, it may be more feasible to increase the contrast of the LED display to improve the recognizability of the image. At present, packaging companies such as Osram, Nationstar Optoelectronics, Xinguangtai, and Jingtai have increased their efforts to promote SMD black lights to reduce the light pollution problem of outdoor LED displays from the component level.

LED displays are inherently innocent, but when LED displays update information and picture output, they become emitters of light pollution. LED display manufacturers and operators bear unshirkable responsibilities. Therefore, how to integrate LED displays harmoniously into the city and achieve the artistic integration of city and light will be a top priority for the development of the LED display industry in the next few years.
