Singapore is expected to complete the LED lighting replacement project in 2018 and forecast in advance

Starting this month, street lights on 500 streets in Singapore will be gradually replaced with LED lighting fixtures, with a total replacement number of approximately 4,000 lights. The entire replacement project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018. This street lamp replacement project is mainly distributed in streets with low traffic volume and some residential streets. The lighting fixtures used on these roads have relatively low wattage (between 70 and 150 watts). The replacement project will replace the original high-pressure sodium vapor lamps that are approaching the end of their lifespan with LED lamps that can save more than 30% of energy.
Prior to this lighting replacement project, the Singapore Transport Department had conducted a three-year LED lighting test on Northumberland Road and Tekka Lane, with a total of 17 street lights tested. The Land Transport Authority of Singapore is currently actively trying to use high-wattage LED street lights (above 250 watts) on main traffic roads and highways. Since August last year, the Land Transport Authority has been testing the energy saving, lifespan and stability of high-wattage LED street lights at Lorong1ToaPayoh, and the test is expected to be completed in 2016.
