Taiwanese companies say they have not yet received notice of LED tariff increase

In response to market rumors that the mainland will investigate the LED industry monopoly and raise tariffs, Zhang Shixian, deputy general manager of Taiwanese LED chip factory Jingdian, said that currently, the mainland does not impose tariffs on chip sales, and has not received any news that the mainland will raise tariffs.
Amid market rumors that mainland China has raised LED import tariffs from 4% to 10% and sued a number of major international manufacturers for suspected monopoly influence, Epistar’s stock price hit its daily limit today.
According to market rumors, anti-monopoly is mainly targeted at major international companies. Since many of the major international LED manufacturers hold patents, the prices for selling chips and packaging products to China are quite high. Given their high market share, they may become an industry that has been investigated and monopolized by mainland China after automobiles.
