The Chinese Academy of Sciences joins hands with Wujin to discuss the future of the LED industry

The Chinese Academy of Sciences-Wujin Semiconductor Lighting Industry-Academic-Research Docking Conference and the "Smart City Intelligent Lighting" Forum were held in Wujin District, Changzhou City. 25 experts in the field of semiconductor lighting from the United States, the Netherlands and other places, and more than 200 heads of related domestic enterprises attended the meeting. New technologies and products in semiconductor lighting were demonstrated at the meeting, and experts, scholars and entrepreneurs discussed the future development trends of semiconductor lighting technology.

Wujin Semiconductor Lighting Industrial Park officially settled in Wujin National High-tech Zone in 2009. The industry has developed into one of the fastest-growing strategic emerging industries in Wujin. The park has gathered 26 well-known companies in the global industry, including Zhongjing Optoelectronics, Tongtai Optoelectronics, and Sumitomo Electric Industries, and has initially formed a relatively complete industrial chain from sapphire substrate (crystal growth, cutting and polishing) to epitaxial wafers, chips, packaging, and lighting applications. In 2013, the park achieved product sales revenue of 8.11 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33.4%, and completed corporate R&D investment of 490 million yuan, accounting for 6.1% of operating revenue. The park has been recognized as Jiangsu Science and Technology Industrial Park, Jiangsu Semiconductor Lighting High-tech Industry Demonstration Base, and National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering High-tech Industrialization Base. At present, the park is actively introducing well-known universities and research institutions at home and abroad, organizing and implementing scientific and technological research in key links of the industrial chain, and further accelerating industrial agglomeration.

In order to speed up the major achievements of well-known universities and colleges and institutes inWujin Transformation, this event is combined with the "Brilliant Action" plan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and focuses on the five major categories of LED technology achievements of the Chinese Academy of Sciences system, including natural spectrum fitting lamps led by the Changchun Institute of Optics and Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and high-efficiency lamps with ceramic packaging technology led by the Fujian Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. At the same time, the results of two major categories of LED technologies, including the packaging technology of highly thermally conductive flexible substrates and smart LED lamps from the National Key Laboratory of Semiconductor Lighting Joint Innovation (Changzhou Base), were also collected. It is reported that relevant companies and the project team conducted in-depth discussions and signed 12 cooperation intentions.

Participants said that this event will help companies further understand the latest developments and market patterns of innovative applications of semiconductor lighting at home and abroad, and better improve their ability to respond to market risks and enhance market competitiveness.
