"Security Cables" are suitable for cables used in intrusion alarm systems, video surveillance systems, entrance and exit control systems (including building intercom systems, electronic inspection systems, parking lot (warehouse) safety management systems, etc.), explosion-proof safety inspection systems, and security protection systems that are combined or integrated by these systems with a rated voltage U0/U of 300/500V and below (when used in a DC system, the nominal voltage of the system should not be greater than 1.5 times the rated voltage of the cable). The main content of this standard involves the scope of application of the standard, security cable terms and definitions, security cable classification, marking and naming, technical requirements, relevant test methods, inspection rules and other contents.

Li Jianping, an expert from the China Security Association Expert Committee, said that security cables are the "blood vessels" and "nerves" of the security system. Before the implementation of this standard, the security cable industry standards were always in a vacuum state. The approval, release and implementation of GA/T1297-2016 "Security Cables" achieved another breakthrough in industry standardization and filled a gap in the security industry standard system.

This standard took more than three years from the start of pre-research, application for project approval to release. During this period, the China Security Products Industry Association collaborated with SAC/TC100 to do a lot of preliminary research and organizational work, contributing to the orderly development of the industry. At the same time, the China Security Cable Alliance (Smart Transmission Alliance), which was established with the standard, also played a great role in promoting the promulgation and implementation of the standard!

The implementation of this standard is of great significance to China's security cable industry and the majority of users. With the promulgation and implementation of China's security cable standards, with the joint efforts of the government, industry, enterprises and users, inferior cable products have occupied a certain market share, and the situation of unsafe security cables will be fundamentally changed. It will promote the elimination of backward technologies and reduce excess production capacity in the security cable industry, and guide the research and development innovation of security cable companies and the application innovation of security engineering companies.
