Soso LED Network News: According to reports, the American company Soraa plans to open a semiconductor LED manufacturing factory in Syracuse, New York. The company will cooperate with New York State to jointly build an advanced gallium nitride substrate (GaN on GaN) LED manufacturing factory. It is reported that the new factory will employ hundreds of workers.
Working in collaboration with the State University of New York School of Nanoscience and Engineering, the plant is expected to be completed by the end of this year, with production expected to begin in the second half of 2016. Currently, Soraa already operates an LED manufacturing factory in Fremont, California.
Soraa CEO Jeff Parker said: "Since the launch of the first product in 2012, the global market has responded amazingly to our high-quality LED lighting products, so the company's sales have increased dramatically. The new factory will greatly increase our manufacturing capabilities to meet the growing demand."
At the end of 2013, Soraa plans to expand the company's manufacturing operations to the Buffalo River Bend Business Park in New York. The plan also states that the company will share the site with solar module manufacturer Silevo. However, since Silevo was acquired by SolarCity, HewanThe business park has outgrown Soraa's ELED manufacturing plant and SolarCity's expanded operations. As a result, it had to start planning again.
"As the Riverbend Park space changes, we remain focused on finding the best solution for the state, Soraa, and the workers who call upstate New York home," Parker added. "Now that we've found a great location, we're back on track. Our goal is to hire at least 300 people and generate more than $1 billion in revenue after normal production."
