LED lamp beads play a vital role in the LED display, but many people don’t know much about the price of LED lamp beads. What makes the price of LED lamp beads so different? You will understand clearly after reading the following introduction. Let’s take a look at the price of LED lamp beads and its influencing factors!
Factors affecting the price of LED lamp beads
1. LED size
LEDs with different sizes have different prices. For example, there is a big price difference between 0603LED and 1210 or 3528LED; while the price of LEDs with 1210 and 5050 specifications is another level different. When buying LED lamp beads, don't just focus on the price. The following aspects should be comprehensively assessed in order to purchase high-quality and low-priced LED lamp beads.
2. LED lamp bead chip
Chips include domestic and Taiwanese chips as well as imported chips (including American chips, Japanese chips, German chips, etc.). Different chips have huge price differences. Currently, the most expensive American chips are followed by Japanese chips and German chips. The lowest-priced Taiwanese chips have slightly poorer heat dissipation performance. What kind of chip is used? What kind of effect is to be achieved? You should know it before buying.
3. LED packaging
It is divided into resin packaging and silicone packaging. Resin encapsulation is cheaper. Everything else is the same. Silicone encapsulation has good heat dissipation performance, so the price is slightly more expensive than resin encapsulation.
4. LED color consistency
There are many packaging factories in China. There are thousands of large and small companies in total, and of course there are strong and weak ones. There are many small packaging factories that do not have spectroscopic and color separation machines, so they either do not do spectroscopic and color separation, or they send out the products outsourced, which makes it difficult to guarantee quality. LEDs that have not been separated by light and color have poor color consistency, and the effect after being installed on LED lamp beads and lit is not that good. Of course, the price difference is relatively large.
5.LED welding effect
The assembly of LED lamp beads is divided into two types: manual welding and machine welding. Manual soldering is to use a soldering iron and use the most primitive method to solder. The products produced in this way have ugly appearance (solder joints are inconsistent in size) and poor electrostatic protection measures. Many LED chips have been broken down, resulting in faint or no light when powered on. Machine welding uses reflow soldering, but machine welding is different. Not only does the soldered product look beautiful (solder joints are of consistent size, smooth, no flux residue, and the LED package is intact), but the chip will not be burned by static electricity. At the same time, the LED position and direction are more beautiful. This can be seen directly from the appearance.
6. FPC material
FPC is divided into two types: rolled copper and clad copper. Copper-clad laminates are cheaper, and rolled copper is more expensive. The pads of copper-clad boards tend to fall off when bent, but rolled copper does not. The specific material used for FPC depends on the promoter's decision based on the use environment.
Has the FPC passed environmental certification and UL certification? Does the LED have patents, etc. None are cheap. Certified and patented ones are more expensive.
7.LED brightness
LEDs with different brightness have different prices. The price difference between ordinary brightness and high-brightness LEDs is quite large. Therefore, when purchasing, you must clearly know what kind of brightness you need, so that you can accurately position your product.
8. LED color
The colors are different. Prices are different. Green is more difficult to color match and spectroscopically separate, so its price is higher than other colors; red, yellow, blue and other colors are easier to spectroscopically separate and have better consistency, so the price is slightly cheaper. Special colors such as purple and brown are the most expensive due to color matching.
