AUO said that the company developed FOPLP (panel-level fan-out packaging technology) 7 or 8 years ago, but internally believed that its added value was not high, competition and cooperation were complicated, and market growth was low, so it was put on hold for the time being and focused on the development of Micro LED technology. Currently, large-size TVs have been mass-produced and shipped, and are available on the market.
In addition, AUO is also developing AR glasses, wearable devices, etc., and has already developed a new project with customers for automotive use. It is not only applicable inside the car, but also can embed Micro LED in the headlights, taillights, side bars, and water tanks outside the car. The new project is expected to take 2-3 years to produce results.
AUO pointed out that the mobile solutions business includes automotive and BHTC, and its foundation is more vertical than that of vertical solutions. The solution business is large, and the proportion of mobile revenue will initially exceed that of vertical business. However, the vertical business momentum will be longer. The target is that the mobile and vertical businesses will account for more than 50% of the revenue in 2027, and the mobile, automotive, and display businesses will each account for one-third, reaching a three-thirds world status, which will also effectively reduce the impact of fluctuations in the panel industry.
