Since the "Beijing Eight Minutes" at the closing ceremony of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics made the ice screen popular, the popularity of the ice screen in the field of stage design seems to have been on the rise and has become a "frequent visitor" to stage choreography. Up to now, 223 relevant patent applications have been submitted in China, mainly involving improving the transparency of transparent screens (such as reducing the width of light bars, changing the installation method of light sources), enhancing the stability of transparent screens (such as improving the welding process, accelerating the heat dissipation of the screen, improving the waterproof performance of the display), simplifying the splicing and installation of transparent screens, providing flexible transparent screens, expanding the application methods of transparent screens, etc. In terms of application types, the largest number of patent applications are utility model patent applications. This shows that the technology in the LED industry is changing rapidly, so companies are more inclined to submit utility model patent applications that are authorized quickly. It is worth noting that in addition to LED display companies, there are also many cross-field companies that are also committed to the research and development of transparent displays. Google submitted a patent application in March 2016, which involves a micro-LED transparent screen that can be installed on wearable devices such as glasses. The micro LED screen can also be converted between transparent mode and opaque mode to present AR or VR effects.

 

As the saying goes, "If you don't have long-term worries, you will have immediate worries." This sentence is also applicable to enterprises. At present, the application of LED transparent screens has not been fully popularized. The number of display companies engaged in transparent screen production in the industry is currently relatively small, and there are even fewer companies with patents related to transparent screens. The market prospects of LED transparent screens are very promising. Some organizations predict that the market value of transparent displays will be approximately US$87.2 billion by 2025, and more and more companies will participate in it in the future. Therefore, relevant companies in this field must take precautions, combine their own strengths, find a suitable entry point from future technology development trends, invest in research and development in advance, and protect the intellectual property rights of research and development results as soon as possible, so as to achieve "products are not moved, patents come first" in order to win the opportunity in the fierce competition.

 

The wonderful appearance of "Ice Screen" in the field of stage choreography and even more other fields has allowed more people in the industry to see the wonderful display brought by the unique advantages of LED transparent ice screens, as well as the broad market prospects. However, due to the insufficient research and development of LED transparent ice screens by many companies in the industry, this part of the market has not developed as explosively as imagined. But this has also inspired screen companies. If they want to compete for the tens of billions of transparent display markets, they must start to pay attention to technological innovation and research and development of transparent displays. Although LED transparent ice screen display technology has not attracted everyone's attention at this stage, I believe that in the near future, when LED transparent display screen technology is further improved, LED transparent ice screen will definitely be able to pass the test and show off in a wider field.
