Strengthening the Micro led Alliance for Collaborative Innovation
In the field of Micro LED, which is at the forefront of the display industry, Shentianma is at the top of the domestic echelon. The high-PPI glass-based Micro-LED display technology launched by the company this time realizes a 1.63-inch 403PPI active Micro LED display. This technology has high-definition colors and high-efficiency features, and can be widely used in various smart wearable and mobile terminals.
Xi Kerui, deputy director of Shenzhen Tianma Micro LED Research Institute, told reporters that Shenzhen Tianma began to lay out the Micro LED technology field in 2017. The technical route is more focused on new technology directions, and the gap with the international advanced level has narrowed to about half a year to a year. Although Micro LED has not yet been put into commercial applications in large quantities, Shentianma has made preparations in terms of technology and production capacity. For example, in transparent car displays, Shentianma takes advantage of the transparent properties of Micro LED materials and works hard to improve chip efficiency and thermal stability.
"Shenzhen Tianma's current goal is to light up the Micro LED production line next year. This is not the lighting of the laboratory state production line, but includes the actual entire automated process." Xikrui said that it is expected that Shenzhen Tianma Micro LED will ramp up in small batches in 2025 and 2026. The products will be driven by customer demand and prepare for mass production in the direction of vehicle and large-screen displays.
The development of Micro LED requires collaborative innovation in the industry chain. Since the establishment of the Micro LED Alliance in 2021, Shenzhen Tianma and its partners have continued to promote cooperation and industrialization verification in industry, academia and research.
In this innovation conference, Shenzhen Tianma hired Academician Zheng Youyi of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a scientific and technological consultant, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hercynian Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to deepen scientific and technological cooperation in flexible OLED technology, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Jiageng Innovation Laboratory on the development of Micro-LED technology. At the same time, the Micro-LED Joint Research Institute jointly established by Shenzhen Tianma and the Jiageng Innovation Laboratory was successfully unveiled.
As the chairman of the alliance, Peng Xuhui, chairman of Shenzhen Tianma, pointed out that only in-depth cooperation between the upstream and downstream of the industry chain can promote the rapid development of the Micro LED industry.
