Who would have thought that this "newcomer" that only took root in Nanchang in 2017 would make its "C-level debut" in the global LED chip field in just a few years.
"I know that there are tigers in the mountains, so I prefer to go to the tiger mountains." Recalling the beginning of the business, Wang Rong, the president's office, said with emotion. At that time, the domestic high-end LED chip market was dominated by European, American and Japanese companies, and the road to domestic substitution was full of challenges.Zhaochi Semiconductor has risen to the challenge and invested tens of billions in the upstream of the LED industry chain. From sapphire flat wafers to chip manufacturing, it has built the only full industry chain R&D and production system in the province. "We not only have to do what others can do, but also do our best!" Wang Rong said firmly.
Today, the company leads the world in monthly production capacity of 4-inch gallium nitride LED epitaxial chips. Its main business revenue will exceed 5 billion yuan in 2024, and its MiniRGB chip market share exceeds 50%, making it a core supplier to international giants such as Samsung and TCL.
In the corporate hall, rows of patent certificates tell the code of innovation. Chief Technology Officer Hu Jiahui said frankly: "We have applied for more than 1,500 patents and authorized 756 patents. Take the MiniRGB chip, for example, through the independently developed patterned sapphire substrate technology, the size has been reduced from 3x6mil to 2x6mil. The cost has been reduced, the production capacity has been increased, and the bottleneck of MiniLED display mass production has been broken." In the MicroLED field, the company has completed the layout of the entire technology chain, and the luminous efficiency of the developed chip has reached 300lm/W, approaching the top international level.
The company builds a "5G+smart factory" to demonstrate its hard core capabilities. The digital operation rate of key processes is 100%, the single-wafer yield rate is stable at more than 97%, and the production efficiency is increased by 20%-30%. Xu Mingming clicked on the data monitoring screen: "In the past, manpower could only monitor core data, and 80% of the data could not be managed. Now with a digital intelligent platform, nearly 300 million pieces of data are analyzed every day. Last year, the yield performance increased by nearly two points, and the efficiency increased by nearly 50 million yuan!"
As a key enterprise in Jiangxi Province's "Azalea Action", Zhaochi Semiconductor assumes the role of "chain owner". Ru Hao, who graduated with a Ph.D. from Fudan University, said: "50% of our products are supplied internally and 50% are sold at home and abroad. We have also connected companies such as Zhaochi Crystal Display and Zhaochi Optoelectronics in series to open up the LED industry chain and effectively resist international risks."
Upstream, the company has built a joint laboratory for semiconductor materials with Nanchang University to solve the problem of slow sapphire crystal growth; downstream, it has cooperated with local LED packaging companies to create the "Nanchang MiniLED Display Industry Cluster" to promote localized distribution of the industry chain.The set rate jumped from 30% to 60%.
