The reporter learned from the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission: In the first half of this year, the new energy vehicle industry in Guangdong Province showed a momentum of vigorous development. The province has produced a total of 4,436 new energy passenger vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 71.9%; and 1,003 new energy buses, a year-on-year increase of 22.0%. The "Pearl River Delta" region has become a national demonstration area for the promotion and application of new energy vehicles.
"An obvious trend in the development of strategic emerging industries in Guangdong Province is that market applications have driven the rapid development of the industry." The relevant person in charge of the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission told reporters. Data show that in the first half of this year, Guangdong's high-tech manufacturing industry, which is dominated by strategic emerging industries, achieved an added value of nearly 340 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.8%.
The trend of “promoting industry through application” is not only reflected in the field of new energy vehicles, but also in the LED industry. According to the relevant person in charge of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, since Guangdong took the lead in launching the LED lighting demonstration project in the country in 2008, the province has promoted and applied a total of 1.3 million LED street lamps, more than 2 million indoor LED lighting products, and more than 30,000 kilometers of demonstration road sections, with an overall energy saving of 55%, accumulating experience for the large-scale, standardized production and application of LED products. Since the beginning of this year, the scale of Guangdong's LED industry has continued to expand. The output value in the first half of the year is expected to reach 163.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30.6%.
At the same time, the increase in market demand has promoted the continuous improvement of industry innovation capabilities and patent protection awareness in Guangdong Province. Taking the LED industry as an example, in order to take greater initiative in the market, Guangdong LED companies have paid more and more attention to innovation in recent years and actively applied for patents. As of the end of July this year, a total of 7,291 LED patents were authorized in Guangdong, accounting for 35.9% of the total number of LED patent authorizations nationwide. The breakthrough in the number of patents provides a solid foundation for industrial technological innovation.
Not only that, Guangdong Province’s strategic emerging industries also show a good aggregation trend. Three industry cluster development pilots, including new generation display technology, new power batteries, protein biopharmaceuticals and implantable (interventional) devices, are being actively promoted. The total investment in the pilot projects exceeds 40 billion yuan. In accordance with the idea of industrial agglomeration development, in the first half of this year, Guangdong Province organized and identified a second batch of 19 strategic emerging industry bases, covering high-end new electronic information, new energy vehicles, semiconductor lighting and other fields. As of now, there are 42 provincial-level strategic emerging industry bases.
