At the Regional Planning and Urban Design Professional Committee of the Guangzhou Urban Planning Commission held on the afternoon of July 3, the architectural design plan of the Guangzhou Evergrande Football Stadium was unanimously approved.
It is reported that the new plan means "lotus crown", and the design inspiration comes from the "bordered lotus", taking its beautiful shape of "budding and tightly embracing", implying the traditional Chinese cultural character of "nobleness, tenacity and unity", and also implying the beautiful vision of "lotus blooming and winning consecutive laurels".
The appearance of the project adopts modern morphological techniques and is cut like gemstones, giving it a sense of technology and the future. Each unit has an upward-stretching geometric shape, and is more like championship trophies connected side by side, symbolizing the majestic power of the victorious team holding the trophy high.
On April 16 this year, Evergrande Group won the sports facilities and industrial land plot in Xiecun, Panyu District. It plans to combine the development trends of modern football and stadium operations to build the land into a top professional football stadium with complete facilities and high technological content in the world. The goal is to host the world's top football events.
When Evergrande Group was preparing for the project in the early stages of land bidding and auction, it invited eight design masters from six of the world's top professional football stadium design companies, including Gensler in the United States, GMP in Germany, HPP in Germany, AFL in the United Kingdom, FAA in Brazil, and Populous in Australia. They organized several rounds of design competitions and finally selected Gensler from the United States.
Guangzhou Evergrande Football Stadium is an important sports industry business card of Guangzhou City. Relying on the South Railway Station to build the core portal of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it will attract fans from all over the country and promote the development of sports and other related industries in the area.
In order to implement the "applicable, economical, green, and beautiful" architectural policy for the new era, to show the spirit of the city, reflect the style of the times, and strive to improve the quality of construction engineering design plans, in accordance with Guangzhou City's major construction project management procedures, Guangzhou City solicited opinions from academicians and masters by organizing expert reviews and listening to opinions in person. Gensler's creative team absorbed the opinions of academicians and masters to deepen and optimize the design plan.
On the afternoon of July 3, the architectural design plan was submitted to the Regional Planning and Urban Design Professional Committee. The participating departments and experts reviewed the plan from multiple perspectives such as design concept, functional layout, and facade materials. The meeting approved the architectural design plan in principle. In the next step, Guangzhou will accelerate the approval and construction of the Evergrande Football Stadium, drive the development of Guangzhou's sports industry, and realize new vitality in the old city with excellent urban space quality.
