ISLE industry benchmark: Unilumin XR digital studio + UMicro, heading towards a new blue ocean in the industry

From April 7th to April 9th, ISLE 2023, the largest and most influential international smart display and system integration exhibition, was grandly held at the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center. Chinese LED company Unilumin Technology was invited to participate in the exhibition with xR virtual shooting solutions, the latest UMicro research and development results and other star products and scene-based solutions, attracting many industry experts and scholars to watch, and triggering discussions on many hot topics.

Among them, Unilumin UMicro0.4, 0.6, and 0.7 won the Excellent Product Award; the virtual shooting solution won the "LED Immersive Display System Innovation Award" and the "Innovation Gold Award"; the naked-eye 3D digital virtual human "Qi Xiaozhen" won the "Specialized New Award".

All UMicro new products receive acclaim

At the exhibition, Unilumin Space has focused on the research and development results of multiple UMini/Micro series products in recent years. Since the release of the UMini series in 2018, Unilumin’s research and development breakthroughs in Mini and Micro displays can be said to be rapid and steady. So far, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.7 dot pitches have all been mass-produced, perfectly delivering the answers of the times.

Among them, the UMicro 0.4 exhibited at this exhibition is a masterpiece that represents the pinnacle of current industry technology, with a peak brightness of 2,400 nits. It applies EBL+ multi-layer optical processing, 3D-LUT color gamut calibration, ultra-cool screen and other special technologies, and has a contrast ratio of 30,000:1. It has once again made major breakthroughs in multiple performance advantages such as anti-reflective, anti-glare, anti-moiré, and pure black background.

Technology pre-research began in 2013, and special research was launched in 2016. In 2023, Micro's full range of products was mass-produced and entered the household field. Nowadays, Unilumin's Micro base production capacity has been greatly improved, which can fully meet the current market demand, and continues to lead key technologies such as materials, structural design, and process processes. It is reported that Micro0.3 is already in the development stage.

Commercial xR light display digital studio

The popularity of the Oscar-winning science fiction film "The Instant Universe" represents the intensification of the new technological revolution in the film industry. Film shooting has begun to bid farewell to the green screen stage and move towards virtual digital shooting. It is estimated that the global virtual movie market will maintain a compound annual growth rate of 16.7% from 2021 to 2025, with the total scale eventually reaching US$2.97 billion.

In response to the current industry pain points of inconsistent industry standards and lack of talent in virtual shooting, Unilumin launched a full set of xR virtual shooting solutions at the exhibition. The solution includes xR virtual shooting system + full-process solution + digital asset cloud platform + cinema.

Among them, the "xR virtual shooting system" includes major configurations such as LED display systems, screen control systems, cameras and camera tracking systems, media servers, lighting systems, and streaming systems. Based on customer needs, at this conference, Unilumin released customized digital studio solutions in three categories: movie-level professional LED VP studio, medium and large, and small, which can meet different scenes and different types of shooting.

The film-level professional LED VP studio, combined with dynamic capture studio supporting facilities, is suitable for venues of more than 3,000 square meters. It will be used on a large scale in virtual film shooting, high-quality TV series shooting, and advertising blockbuster shooting, becoming a new opportunity for domestic film and film and television industrial production.

In terms of digital asset construction, the "UE Digital Asset Cloud Platform" created by Unilumin, in addition to the XR virtual production scene library, also includes the digital content of the Rubik's Cube screen, the cute cat Daju, and the naked-eye 3D virtual IP image of the digital virtual human "Qi Xiaozhen" on display.
