On October 20, JBD Shanghai Display announced the launch of a new generation of Micro LED microdisplay platform "Roadrunner" on the 15th of this month. This flagship platform has a pixel pitch of only 2.5μm and achieves a pixel density of 10160 ppi. The number of pixels is 2.56 times that of the previous generation "Hummingbird", making it suitable for consumer AR devices.
JBD Roadrunner platform adopts the 22nm process node for the first time, controlling the backplane power consumption to 18mW, and reducing the packaging volume in color micro-projection equipment by more than half.
JBD plans to bring the Roadrunner Micro LED platform to the market in stages in the second half of 2026, with priority in shipping color micro-projection equipment.
