CASN phosphor is a nitride red phosphor with a molecular formula of CaAlSiN3. Its chemical formula atomic coefficient is 1113, so it is also referred to as 1113 phosphor. It can be used with blue LED chips and green phosphors to produce white light. It is widely used in lighting and backlight products, covering consumer and automotive grade products.
In addition to Japan's NIMS (National Institute for Materials Science) and Mitsubishi Corporation holding some of the CASN phosphor core patents, another part of the core patents were originally held by Japan's Panasonic. Now Panasonic has reached a patent transfer agreement with Jufei Optoelectronics to transfer its CASN core patents to Jufei Optoelectronics.
In fact, Jufei Optoelectronics has obtained the CASN phosphor application patent license from Japan's NIMS as early as October 2019. Together with the CASN phosphor patent transferred by Panasonic, Jufei Optoelectronics now has a global advantage in protecting the intellectual property rights of CASN phosphors, opening up a broader space for the promotion of CASN phosphors in the lighting and backlight fields.
Lighting LED and backlight LED are the two main business segments of Jufei Optoelectronics. On this basis, Jufei Optoelectronics has expanded new LED businesses such as automotive LED, Mini/Micro LED, invisible light, and high-end lighting.
Currently, Jufei Optoelectronics has achieved relatively rapid development in niche markets such as automotive LED and Mini LED backlight. In terms of automotive LED business, in the first half of the year, Jufei's automotive-grade backlight LEDs entered the world's major automotive module supply chain systems, and automotive lighting LED products entered the resource pool of major domestic brands of cars. In addition, Jufei's series of automotive high-power lighting products have been gradually used in high and low beams and daytime running lights; ultra-high color gamut and low blue eye protection series LED products have also been used in display screens such as central controls and streaming media rearview mirrors in all Ideal models.
For the Mini LED segment, Jufei's Mini LED backlights have achieved continuous delivery of large quantities with stable quality and performance. In the first half of the year, new product shipments maintained rapid growth, becoming a strong driving force for its performance growth.
In the first half of 2023, Jufei Optoelectronics achieved growth in revenue and net profit by strengthening new product development and comprehensive budget management to reduce costs and increase efficiency. During the reporting period, Jufei Optoelectronics achieved revenue of 1.157 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.97%. Among them, LED product revenue was 1.063 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.86%. The comprehensive product yield rate reached 99.285%; the net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company was 118 million yuan, a synchronized increase of 5.75%. Not only that, Jufei Optoelectronics’ continuous technological innovation also won it the 24th China Patent Excellence Award in 2023.
It is not difficult to find that in recent years, Jufei has maintained steady growth as a whole, and its technological research and development strength is one of its core competitive advantages. Among them, in terms of intellectual property rights, Jufei Optoelectronics is advancing through dual-pronged efforts such as its own patents and strategic patent cooperation. According to the 2023 semi-annual report, Jufei Optoelectronics has applied for more than 600 patents based on technology accumulation and innovation practices, of which invention patents account for approximately 45.6%. At the same time, Jufei Optoelectronics is also actively conducting strategic cooperation patent authorization with internationally renowned companies, promoting dual-line advancement, and deepening the strategic layout of intellectual property rights.
