The industry predicts that in the next few years, China's LED lighting market will usher in a peak period of development, with market demand expected to exceed 100 billion units and a market share of more than 30%.
"This is the best of times, and it is also the worst of times." For many people in the industry, this is a time of dire straits. Prices have plummeted, and the market has not grown. The market that was originally expected to break through has not yet broken through. However, the long-term progress of an industry is much clearer than a year ago or two years ago.
Since 2012, my country’s LED lighting industry has been driven by policies, funds and markets. Rapid development, both in terms of output value scale and industrial chain construction have achieved good results. However, from a global perspective, my country's LED lighting is still in its infancy, especially with a low level of industrial technology and a large gap with LED developed countries. Therefore, fully understanding the global position of my country's LED industry and comprehensively analyzing the development trend of LED lighting play an important role in further grasping the direction of development and formulating targeted promotion policies. So what kind of trend will LED show in the future?
First of all, with technological improvement and cost reduction, the industry is facing a price-quality game. LED lighting manufacturers have been committed to improving product technology and reducing component and manufacturing costs. On the one hand, by strengthening technology research and development capabilities and improving component luminous efficiency, the price per thousand lumens can continue to decline. Referring to the "Solid-State Lighting Development Annual Plan" announced by the U.S. DOE in May 2011, the luminous efficiency of both cold white and warm white LED components continues to increase, and the cost decreases accordingly. Cold white LEDs have developed to 134lm/w at the end of 2010, with a price of US$13 per thousand lumens; warm white LEDs are At the end of 2010, the luminous efficiency increased to 96lm/w, and the price per thousand lumens was US$18. As for the future development goals, DOE plans to increase the luminous efficiency of cold white LED components to 224lm/w and the price to fall to US$2 per thousand lumens in 2015. For warm white light, the luminous efficiency will increase to 202lm/w and the price will drop to US$2.2 per thousand lumens. On the other hand, through improvements in manufacturing processes or materials, product quality is improved and overall manufacturing costs are reduced. Upstream component technology improvements and cost reductions will drive rapid improvements in the cost performance of downstream lighting products, and the LED industry is moving in a reasonable and stable direction. Industry experts point out that the price of LED products is declining at a rate of about 20% per year, and the focus of future industry competition will shift to product quality and service.
Secondly, the ban on incandescent lamps has been implemented, and the LED industry has business opportunities
Incandescent light bulbs are the most common lighting source in the world, with a market share of up to 70%, but their luminous efficiency is only 8-20lm/W, and the overall lighting system efficiency is 50lm/W. Considering energy conservation, various countries have proposed plans to gradually phase out incandescent light bulbs. our national plan It is planned to ban the import and sale of incandescent light bulbs above 100 watts in October 2012. In 2014 and October 2016, the import and sale of incandescent light bulbs above 60 watts and 15 watts will be banned respectively.
Driven by the policies of various countries to ban the production, sale and ban of incandescent lamps, finding alternative light sources with better luminous efficiency has become a top priority. With the trend of falling prices and improving quality, LED light bulbs are expected to become the best alternative light source to replace incandescent lamps due to their long life, high luminous efficiency and low power consumption. From the perspective of the global lighting market, by 2010, only Japan had successfully applied LED light bulbs nationwide. Its success factors include: the support of Japanese government policies, manufacturers' full cooperation in price reduction, and consumers' high awareness of energy conservation and environmental protection.
Furthermore, product design starts from the demand side and focuses on user experience. In the past, LED lighting manufacturers emphasized luminous efficiency, light output and product life. Nowadays, the growth of the technology side has become inevitable. What can make consumers shine are lighting products that truly meet the lighting needs of end users from the consumer perspective. Lighting and color are the physical phenomena that humans are most frequently exposed to. Different light intensities and colors will have different effects on people. When products place more emphasis on human visual experience, the R&D and design of lighting fixtures need to comprehensively consider the feelings and perceptions received by the human eye and brain, while paying attention to human physiological and psychological needs. When the application of LED lighting expands rapidly, whether it can be designed to meet consumer needs and create an overall light environment and appropriate atmosphere will be an important factor affecting the popularity of LED applications. Finally, companies have strengthened their channel layout and accelerated the pace of international mergers and acquisitions.
Market access is a key factor in promoting the development of lighting products to terminals. In the past, LED lighting component manufacturers only needed to focus on improving the luminous efficiency of LED components, and handed over the completed semi-finished products to downstream manufacturers for operation. As LEDs move toward lighting applications, more upstream LED manufacturers expect to move toward vertical integration and directly contact terminal channels and consumers. Completely different thinking will be a challenge for LED manufacturers, and the lack of channel layout experience has also become a bottleneck for LED lighting products to reach the terminal.
In addition, as far as national projects are concerned, LED opportunities are mainly concentrated in: industrialization of major energy-saving technologies and equipment Engineering; semiconductor lighting industrialization and application engineering; "urban mineral" demonstration project; remanufacturing industrialization project; industrial waste resource utilization project; major environmental protection technology equipment and product industrialization demonstration project; seawater desalination industry base construction project; energy-saving and environmental protection service industry cultivation project.
At present, international lighting manufacturers have advantages in channel layout. An international lighting manufacturer with a long history of brand development has less effort in channel management. It only needs to shift its main products from traditional light sources to promoting emerging LED lighting. Relying on brand advantages and sales channel advantages, internationally renowned LED companies will accelerate the pace of mergers and acquisitions, accelerate the layout of the entire industry chain when the industry enters the traditional off-season, and further enhance corporate competitiveness.
