The Philips Canlyte factory will be officially closed in March 2015. Prior to this, the factory will gradually stop producing incandescent lamps and transfer the production tasks of LED lamps to other factories in North America.
It is expected that 190 employees will be affected by the closure of the factory. Philips spokesperson Santina Giuliano said the company is currently notifying employees of relevant compensation agreements.
Philips stated that as more and more companies and industries get involved in the production of LED lamps, changes in market demand are the reasons for the withdrawal of the factory.
