Building a strong intellectual property town. The growth rate of patent applications has ranked first in the city for three consecutive years

In about two months, the largest lighting culture festival in Guangdong will be held in the ancient town. This is an important measure taken by the ancient town to build a new professional town: to upgrade the connotation of the lighting industry with a "culture +" model and attract more tourists to the ancient town to buy lights.

After more than 30 years of development, today’s ancient town lighting industry is no longer limited to production and manufacturing bases. The ancient town has been thinking and exploring in recent years how to gather global resources to create a highland where people, logistics and capital flows converge.

After Zhongshan determined the development strategy of new professional towns this year, Guzhen Town Party Committee Secretary Liu Jianhui proposed that Guzhen Town will promote the development of new professional towns using the Industry 4.0 model. First of all, we should promote the "model innovation" of the lighting industry, transform from "selling products" to "selling creativity" and "selling design", and seize the smart high-end of the lighting industry chain.

The reporter learned from the ancient town that in the past five years, the town has invested 300 million yuan to build a 60,000-square-meter lighting industry transformation and upgrading service platform using the Productivity Promotion Center as a carrier, and has used this to integrate scientific and technological resources, promote the optimization and upgrading of the lighting industry structure in the ancient town, and strive to build a strong town with intellectual property rights.

At present, multiple public service platforms such as China Zhongshan (Lighting) Intellectual Property Rapid Rights Protection Center and Zhongshan (Guzhen) Intellectual Property Exhibition and Trading Center have been put into service one after another and have achieved initial results, forming an operating mechanism for public technology innovation platforms to support transformation and upgrading, providing more than 1,500 small and medium-sized enterprises with services such as appearance design and technical cooperation.

According to statistics, in 2014 alone, the Semiconductor Lighting Technology Research Center of Sun Yat-sen University (Guzhen) provided technical support to more than 30 companies in the town, involving more than 40 projects, 7 invention patents, 6 utility model patents, 1 appearance patent, and 6 software copyrights.

According to statistics, relying on the national patent ancient town application platform, from 2011 to June this year, the ancient town had a total of 19,139 patent applications, with an average annual growth rate of double digits, ranking first in the city for three consecutive years. In the first half of this year, the number of patent applications and authorizations in Guzhen increased by 44.5% and 38.6% respectively.

Build a lighting creative city and introduce international teams to build a lighting talent club

Under the new economic normal, the growth rate of the domestic lighting industry has slowed down, and many lighting companies are feeling the pressure.

However, in the first half of this year, the ancient town achieved a total industrial output value of 5.83 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.9%, which was a significant improvement compared to last year. In addition, the state and local tax revenue was 720 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.6%; the industrial investment was 870 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 351.9%; the town's electricity consumption was 660 million kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 10%. In terms of exports, the export delivery value of Guzhen in the first half of the year reached US$188 million, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%. The export situation is better than that of 2014.

Liu Jianhui revealed that in addition to building a strong intellectual property town, the ancient town also hopes to build a "lighting creative capital": "We will guide high-quality enterprises to establish national, provincial and municipal industrial design demonstration bases or industrial design institutes, strengthen the performance management of the town's public service platform, and provide technical support for enterprises to participate in domestic and foreign competitions. In addition, we also plan to introduce Italian, Polish and other designer teams, establish an 'International Lighting Talent Club', and hold the first 'China Lighting Capital Creative Lighting Design Competition' to increase the contribution rate of intellectual property rights."

In terms of optimizing industrial carriers and strengthening the real economy, this year the ancient town will encourage the demolition and reconstruction of low-density factories, the construction of multi-story or high-rise standardized factories, and improve the efficiency of land output. The ancient town also plans to revitalize industrial reserve land, integrate contiguous resources, highlight scale benefits, and build a comprehensive industrial park. It will attract a group of growing companies with innovative design capabilities and core competitiveness to enter the park, establish R&D and production plants, and drive land, capital, talent and other resources to form aggregation advantages.
