Shanghai demolished more than 3,000 pieces of illegal advertising and suspended applications for outdoor advertising on electronic screens in the administrative region
According to reports, Shanghai has demolished more than 3,000 pieces of illegal advertising facilities and suspended applications for five categories of outdoor advertising. The five categories are:
Outdoor advertising facilities located inside the buildings (including podiums) within the inner ring elevated road (including the outer 100 meters);
The Yan'an elevated road's inner ring extends westwards to 100 meters on both sides of the outer ring. Outdoor advertising facilities located within the buildings (including podiums);
Outdoor advertising facilities within the inner ring of the north-south elevated road extending northward to within 100 meters on both sides of the middle ring line and extending southward to 100 meters on both sides of the Puxi section of Lupu Bridge (including podiums);
High column advertising facilities within the suburban ring line (including the outer 100 meters);
Electronic display device type outdoor advertising facilities within the administrative area of this city.
With the suspension of administrative licenses for the installation of some outdoor advertising facilities, Shanghai will strictly rectify illegal outdoor advertising facilities. By the end of this year, the regulatory authorities will basically complete the task of rectifying illegal outdoor advertising facilities 100 meters on both sides of the elevated roads in Yan'an, the North-South and the Inner Ring Road, and along the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway (from the Outer Ring Road to the Xujing toll gate). 70% of the task of rectifying illegal high pillar advertising facilities within the suburban ring line (including the outer 100 meters) will also be completed within this year. In the first half of next year and the end of next year, the rectification of illegal high pillar advertising facilities and illegal outdoor advertising facilities in other areas will also be completed within the suburban ring line (including the outer 100 meters).
In recent years, Shanghai has demolished and rectified more than 3,100 pieces of various fixed and illegal advertising facilities, and the installation of outdoor advertising facilities is generally under control. However, the phenomenon of illegal and unauthorized outdoor advertising still occurs in some areas. Despite repeated rectification, the results are not great. With the rapid growth of new forms of advertising such as electronic displays and media walls, the resulting light environment phenomena have had a greater impact on residents' lives, traffic safety, and cityscape.
