The "Digital Light Source Chip Advanced Packaging and Testing Base Project" is committed to breaking through the bottleneck of the research and development and manufacturing of the international new technology Micro-LED light display integrated automotive light source chip, and directly targets the key links in the automotive main light source chip supply chain monopolized by foreign manufacturers. The project relies on the technology accumulation and mass production experience of the parent company Jinghe Optoelectronics, and combines the industry, academia and research forces of the School of Microelectronics of Shanghai University to focus on advanced technologies and packaging and testing processes such as CMOS digital-to-analog drive, heterogeneous integration, and high-precision bonding to build integrated mass production capabilities from chips to modules. The scientific and technological achievements were reviewed by experts organized by the Shanghai Technology Exchange and were evaluated as "domestic leading and internationally advanced", and a complete independent intellectual property system was formed. The project covers a total area of 35 acres and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027. After completion, it will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 million Micro-LED light source chips and 600,000 sets of car light modules. The products have technical advantages such as independent pixel control and microsecond response, which meet the development needs of the intelligent interactive lighting industry.
It is reported that the completion of the base will not only realize the local replacement of high-end automotive light source chips and reduce the supply chain risks of the local smart car industry, but will also attract upstream and downstream companies to gather by creating a collaborative industrial ecosystem of "chip design-sealing and testing, intelligent manufacturing-mass production applications", helping Lingang and even Shanghai consolidate their leading position in innovation in the high-quality development of the next-generation display lighting industry, and provide China's smart car industry with truly independent and controllable "Chinese core" light source solutions.
