There are nearly 2,000 enterprises gathered together, and 4 clusters including Anhui New Display were selected as national industrial clusters.

On November 27, 36kr Anhui learned from the Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission that in the first three quarters of 2023, the operating revenue of Anhui's electronic information manufacturing industry reached 296.47 billion yuan, and the main business income of the software and information service industry hit 123.83 billion yuan.

In recent years, construction of landmark leading projects including CXMT, Nexchip and Huaxin Micro-Nano has been accelerated in Anhui, steadily elevating the province’s standing in the national integrated circuit industry layout. Notably, four industrial clusters covering integrated circuits, new displays, artificial intelligence and advanced structural materials have been listed among national strategic emerging industrial clusters, gathering nearly 2,000 enterprises with an annual operating revenue of 400 billion yuan.

Besides, the Wuhu Data Center Cluster has been approved as a national hub node of the Yangtze River Delta under the national integrated computing power network, ranking among the 10 core data center clusters of the national East-West Computing Resource Allocation Project. Three industrial internet platforms namely Lingyang by iFlytek, Haiyunxing by Chery and Kaisheng AGM by CNBM have been accredited as national cross-industry and cross-region platforms, placing Anhui fifth nationwide in terms of the number of such platforms.

To make breakthroughs in core bottleneck fields including key equipment, spare parts, raw materials and core software, Anhui has set up industrial basic capacity innovation alliances to carry out systematic research on core technologies.

Relying on the Hefei National Comprehensive Science Center, Anhui has actively deployed experimental facilities such as space-ground integrated quantum precision measurement, accelerated the construction of research institutes for artificial intelligence and data space, and built high-level innovation platforms. It dynamically formulates lists of restrictive technologies, leading technologies and core bottleneck technologies, adopts research mechanisms such as open bidding for key projects and competitive research projects, and has launched over 600 major provincial industrial innovation programs, key science and technology projects and core R&D initiatives to tackle a batch of pivotal core technologies.

The Anhui Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government have prioritized the development of the new-generation information technology industry as a core strategic emerging industry, greatly boosting its industrial influence and core competitiveness.

Statistics show that so far, Anhui has boasted more than 40 listed companies in this sector, over 70 national-level specialized, sophisticated, unique and innovative small giant enterprises, and over 1,500 above-scale enterprises engaged in electronic information manufacturing. Remarkably, BOE Hefei ranks among the world’s top suppliers of large-size display panels. Nexchip takes the world’s No.1 market share in LCD display driver chip foundry business and has entered the global top 10 wafer foundry enterprises.

To support local information technology enterprises to expand overseas markets, Anhui has continuously improved supporting infrastructure. It has formulated the Construction Plan for Intelligent Computing Power Infrastructure (2023-2025) to coordinate relevant construction, with the total intelligent computing power built across the province exceeding 6500P.

Moreover, Anhui has further promoted the coordinated development of dual-gigabit networks. A total of 114,000 5G base stations have been built, achieving full 5G network coverage in urban areas of prefecture-level cities, counties and towns. Four cities including Hefei, Wuhu, Huangshan and Suzhou have been named Gigabit Cities.

The official launch of the national-level internet backbone direct connection point in Hefei has greatly improved cross-network communication efficiency. All network infrastructure is fully upgraded to support IPv6, with mobile networks, fixed networks and data centers realizing 100% IPv6 compatibility and more than 65 million active IPv6 users. The Lingyang industrial internet comprehensive service platform has attracted 508,000 registered users and provided services to enterprises for 2.18 million times.
