With an investment of 5 billion, Visionox plans to establish Kunshan Global New Display Industry Innovation Center

On the evening of April 23, Visionox announced that in order to accelerate the high-quality development of Kunshan's new generation electronic information industry cluster, the company plans to sign the "Kunshan Global New Display Industry Innovation Center Project Cooperation Agreement" with the Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee.

It is reported that the project requires about 60 acres of industrial land and a total investment of about 5 billion yuan, including about 4 billion yuan in equipment investment, intangible assets, working capital, etc., and about 1 billion yuan in land and factory building construction. The total investment covers related fixed assets and related patents. The project is a leading high-end flexible AMOLED technology development platform in China, which mainly carries out three businesses:

1. Development of cutting-edge display technology, including localization verification of materials and equipment, research and development of key technologies for cutting-edge display underlying, etc.;

2. Delivery of related products based on relevant R&D projects, including XR products and X-ray products;

3. Pan-semiconductor technology research and incubation, including perovskite projects and glass substrate projects.

Considering that this project has great strategic significance for reinforcing and expanding the optoelectronic display industry chain in Kunshan Development Zone, and can also be extended to integrated circuits, photovoltaics and other related industries, it is a major project for Kunshan to build a new generation of information technology industry innovation clusters. The Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee provides cooperative support for Visionox.

The two parties will coordinate relevant entities to jointly establish the Kunshan Global New Display Industry Innovation Center Project Company (hereinafter referred to as the "Project Company"). The Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee coordinates the state-owned assets platform to make the investment.

Both parties agreed to include this project as the key subject of the Yangcheng Lake Science and Technology Industry Integration Innovation Center and include it in the scope of this cooperation. The Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee will coordinate relevant units to be responsible for comprehensive planning and provide the project with policies including but not limited to industry collaboration, innovation models, and supporting support related to the Yangcheng Lake Science and Technology Industry Integration Innovation Center.

It is understood that Visionox Kunshan Company settled in the Kunshan Development Zone in 2006 and built the country's first large-scale AMOLED mass production line, the first AMOLED pilot line, and the first OLED production line there. Currently, the Phase III project of Visionox Kunshan Company is accelerating, upgrading existing production lines and increasing production capacity to cope with broader market demand; while continuing to strengthen the mobile phone and wearable markets, it will steadily explore new markets such as vehicles and smart homes.

Visionox stated that in terms of technological innovation, this cooperation will promote future breakthroughs in display technology innovation and accelerate the penetration of AMOLED in various application scenarios such as consumer electronics, vehicle-mounted displays, virtual reality, and medical detection; in terms of industrial development, it will further promote the incubation of new display industry chains and pan-semiconductor technology research results, which is of great significance to cultivating future growth points and accelerating the transformation and development of the new generation of electronic information industry clusters.

In addition to its layout in Kunshan, Jiangsu, Visionox has continued to promote the Hefei project in Anhui in recent years.

In 2022, Visionox signed an agreement with the Hefei Municipal People's Government and related enterprises to jointly invest in the construction of a sixth-generation flexible AMOLED module production line project with a total investment of 11 billion yuan, of which Visionox invested 2.5 billion yuan and accounted for 45.4545% of the shares. The project will start construction in 2022, and will be lit up and mass produced and supplied by the end of 2023.

In 2024, Visionox signed a cooperation document with the Hefei Municipal People's Government and related enterprises to cooperate in the construction of the 8.6th generation AMOLED production line project, with a total investment of 55 billion yuan. The project company's initial registered capital is 2 billion yuan, and the company invested 400 million yuan to account for 20% of the shares. The project will start in September 2024 and is currently under construction.
