113 million yuan, Sunic System signs OLED equipment supply contract with LG Display

According to a report by Korean media The elec on May 6, Sunic System has signed a supply contract for large-size OLED evaporation equipment with LG Display. According to sources, the order may be related to LG Display’s investment in the sixth-generation OLED factory to be built in Paju.

LG Display announced last month that it plans to invest 1.106 trillion won to develop new OLED technology infrastructure. It is reported that the investment will be used to develop new technologies such as four-sided curved displays and low-temperature polysilicon oxide (LTPO) Plus, as well as purchase sixth-generation evaporation equipment for future mass production.

Due to LG Display’s commercial confidentiality requirements, the specific amount of the contract will not be disclosed until it expires, which will expire on May 21, 2027. Considering Sunic System's revenue (515.7 billion won) and the order announcement standard of more than 5% of revenue, the contract value is expected to be at least 25 billion won (approximately RMB 113 million). Sunic System said: "The contract amount will be announced after the confidentiality period ends."

OLED evaporation equipment is a front-end process equipment used to evenly coat organic materials onto the substrate, which has a decisive impact on panel performance and yield. It is reported that Japan's Canon Tokki Company has long dominated the small and medium-sized OLED market.

It is worth mentioning that Sunic System has previously cooperated with LG Display to develop 6th generation OLED evaporation equipment, and recently won an order for 8.6th generation OLED evaporation equipment from BOE.
