Recently, the well-known lighting company Acuity Brands announced its results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025 (ending November 30, 2024).
Information shows that Acuity Brands focuses on the design, production and sales of indoor and outdoor lighting solutions. Acuity Brands' products and solutions are used in a wide range of commercial, residential, industrial and agricultural applications.
Acuity Brands said the company's performance remained solid in the first quarter, achieving sales growth, improving adjusted operating profit and adjusted operating margin, and increasing adjusted diluted earnings per share.
In the first quarter, Acuity Brands achieved net sales of US$951.6 million (approximately RMB 6.185 billion), a year-on-year increase of US$16.9 million, or 1.8%; operating profit was US$133.3 million, a year-on-year increase of US$400,000, or 0.3%; operating profit accounted for 14.0% of net sales, a decrease of 20 basis points from the same period last year. Adjusted operating profit was US$158.7 million, a year-on-year increase of US$4.8 million, or 3.1%; adjusted operating profit accounted for 16.7% of net sales, an increase of 20 basis points compared with the same period last year. During the reporting period, the company generated net cash of US$132.2 million through operating activities.
During the reporting period, Acuity Brands’ diluted earnings per share (EPS) was US$3.35, a year-on-year increase of US$0.14, or 4.4%. Adjusted diluted earnings per share were $3.97, an increase of $0.25 year-over-year and an increase of 6.7% from $3.72 last year.

Net sales during the reporting period were US$886 million, an increase of 1.1%. Operating profit was US$143.3 million, a year-on-year decrease of 0.3%. Adjusted operating profit was US$153.5 million, a year-on-year decrease of 0.2%.
During the reporting period, the Intelligent Space Group (ISG) business achieved net sales of US$73.5 million, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%; operating profit was US$10.8 million, a year-on-year increase of US$5.5 million; adjusted operating profit was US$15.4 million, a year-on-year increase of US$5.1 million.
It is worth noting that on January 1, 2025, Acuity Brands completed the acquisition of audio, video and control (AV&C) solution provider QSC Enterprises for a total amount of US$1.215 billion. This acquisition expanded Acuity Brands' intelligent space (ISG) business and expanded it into the audio, video and control fields of cloud management.
Looking forward to 2025, Acuity Brands expects the company’s net sales to be approximately US$4.3 billion to US$4.5 billion.
