The "led Enterprise Intellectual Property Management and Innovation Strategy Summit Forum", hosted by the Guangdong Semiconductor Lighting Industry Joint Innovation Center, was successfully held in Guangzhou recently. In the same period, the first national led industry patent alliance was officially established.
Yuan Youlou, deputy director of the Guangdong Intellectual Property Office, said: "In strategic emerging industries, especially the led industry, patent issues are serious. With the outward-oriented development trend of the led industry, the intellectual property risk of enterprises has become an inevitable problem. The establishment of the led industry patent alliance will have a significant impact on the industry. It is hoped that the alliance can further help enterprises to strengthen the layout of patents, deal with overseas intellectual property risks, and make due contributions to increasing the weight of international competition for Chinese led enterprises."
The latest "LED Patent Trend Analysis Report" released by the Guangdong Semiconductor Lighting Industry Joint Innovation Center shows that as of the first quarter of this year, the total number of LED patents authorized nationwide has exceeded 200,000, of which the cumulative number of LED patent authorizations in Guangdong Province has reached more than 50,000. However, my country's LED patents are mainly concentrated in the midstream and downstream fields, with patents in midstream packaging and downstream applications accounting for 64% of the total applications. In key technical links related to the long-term development of the industry, there is still a lack of core patents. In addition, data shows that as of May this year, there have been more than 20 LED patent litigation cases around the world, and there have been as many as 20 cases of domestic LED prosecutions by overseas companies.
Sui Shirong, director of the Guangdong Provincial Semiconductor Lighting Industry Joint Innovation Center and newly appointed chairman of the LED Industry Patent Alliance, therefore called on: "LED companies, institutions, organizations and people with lofty ideals in the field of intellectual property rights should join the LED Industry Patent Alliance to strengthen the alliance's strength, jointly establish patent protection barriers, and break through industry barriers. "The LED Industry Patent Alliance is an alliance for the entire LED industry. The purpose of the alliance is to serve the majority of LED companies and truly solve their intellectual property issues."

forum on the same day, a group of experienced senior intellectual property experts gave wonderful speeches.
Lei Zhigang, deputy secretary-general of the Intellectual Property Research Center of China University of Political Science and Law, focused on the "US patent system and infringement risk prevention". He said that enterprises should base themselves on their own situation, determine a patent strategy that meets the actual situation of the enterprise, fully patent their contributions to the existing technology, and apply for patents in the United States, and strive to have a bargaining chip in the event of patent infringement litigation. In the face of allegations of patent infringement, it can be jointly fought through the led industry patent alliance.
Lawyer Zhu Shaobin of Feihan Law Firm in the United States specifically explained "the high incidence of led intellectual property disputes and key case analysis". According to his statistics, US patent litigation involving led technology is growing day by day, and some led patent hotspots involved in litigation are mainly in the 257, 307, 313, 315, 345, 362, 438 categories and some subcategories.
Sun Yinsheng, Legal Director of Beijing Deli Intellectual Property Services Co., Ltd., explained in detail the patent layout and patent quality management of LED lighting companies. He suggested that enterprises should improve patent information utilization and patent mining design capabilities, improve internal management capabilities for patent application quality, enhance patent agency service capabilities, and create a good environment that focuses on patent application quality.
Dr. Guo Jinxia from the Semiconductor Lighting R&D Center of the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences, pointed out that currently in the transformation of scientific research results, we are mainly faced with policy obstacles, transfer and transformation institutions not involved in the patent generation process, one-way work of transfer and transformation institutions, and unblocked channels for cooperation with scientific research institutions.
In addition, the alliance also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shenzhen Zhongcai Lian Technology Co., Ltd. The two parties will conduct comprehensive and in-depth cooperation on the future of the domestic LED industry and comprehensive intellectual property rescue plans for overseas markets, and jointly enhance their influence in the fields of patent retrieval, patent early warning analysis, patent negotiation and industrial patent pool operation such as LED backlight display and LED imaging.
