China’s first ultra-high-generation substrate glass production line is put into operation

On November 11, Xianyang Rainbow Substrate Glass Industry Base, the first domestically produced ultra-high-generation substrate glass production line, was successfully ignited and put into operation, marking my country's new breakthrough in the field of ultra-high-generation substrate glass production and injecting strong impetus into the development of the new display industry.

The new display industry is a pillar industry in the information age and digital economy. The Xianyang G8.5+ substrate project plans to invest a total of 20 billion yuan to build 20 G8.5+ substrate glass production lines. The fourth line fired this time is China’s first ultra-high-generation production line. It applies the latest innovations of the National Engineering Research Center and the New Display Joint Research Institute. The single-line design capacity is increased by another 20%. The core competitiveness is greatly enhanced, and it lays the foundation for the subsequent development of higher-generation substrate glass technology.

At the ignition and commissioning ceremony, Shao Jinyou, executive vice president of the Institute of Science and Technology of Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Xu Jian, general manager of Rainbow Co., Ltd. jointly unveiled the new display joint research institute. Previously in 2023, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Caihong strengthened their strategic cooperation. In accordance with the principle of "one center, one incubation, two surrounds, and one sharing", they planned to jointly build a "New Display Joint Research Institute" and launched core theoretical and technical research on intelligent manufacturing, simulation, and high-end materials. On the occasion of the completion of the new line, the Xi'an Jiaotong University-Caihong Co., Ltd. Joint Research Institute was officially unveiled. In the future, as the depth and breadth of cooperation between the two parties expands, it will definitely produceProduce more and more cutting-edge results and write a new chapter in the deep integration of the innovation chain, industrial chain, capital chain and talent chain.

It is understood that on October 24, the "Shaanxi Province Action Plan to Cultivate a Hundred-Billion-level New Display Industry Innovation Cluster" was officially released, clearly listing the "High Generation Substrate Glass Improvement Project" as one of seven key tasks to strengthen Shaanxi Province's upstream strategic position in China's new display industry chain. As a "chain master" enterprise in the new display industry in Shaanxi Province, Caihong will use the "Action Plan" as its guideline to accelerate the development of the high-generation substrate glass industry in the next five years, continue to improve new productivity and market competitiveness, and lead industrial development with technological innovation, break through ultra-high-generation and OLED glass technologies, meet my country's substrate glass needs for all generations and varieties, and make key contributions to the safe development of China's new display industry chain.
