Currently, as smart cockpits continue to evolve towards multi-screen, interactive and immersive experiences, the requirements for brightness, contrast, color performance and reliability of in-vehicle displays continue to increase, which promotes the accelerated penetration of Mini LED backlight technology in the field of in-vehicle displays and gradually becomes an important technical solution for high-end smart cockpits. Recently, Dr. Zeng Guangming, vice president of Jinko Electronics, was interviewed by LEDinside and shared his professional views on the technical topic of "the biggest technical challenge of Mini LED under the requirements of vehicle regulations."
Dr. Zeng Guangming pointed out that the core challenges of automotive-grade Mini LED focus on reliability, stability and long-term service life, and its application requirements are essentially different from ordinary consumer-grade displays. Currently, in automotive Mini LED backlight applications, most solutions are still based on POB. This is largely because the industry has concerns about the reliability of quantum dot films in automotive-grade applications. Therefore, using KSF phosphor solutions to achieve high color gamut effects has become a safer choice.
As quantum dot film technology has achieved phased breakthroughs, COB solutions have begun to gradually increase in the automotive field; at the same time, because RGB Mini LED backlight does not involve quantum dot film, it essentially avoids material-related reliability issues and is becoming a new technology path worthy of attention.
Dr. Zeng Zhaoming said that Jinko Electronics has carried out joint development and demo verification with a number of partners in the direction of RGB Mini LED automotive applications to jointly promote the large-scale application of this technical solution.
Under the core requirements of high reliability, high stability and long life of products for automotive applications, Jinko Electronics has built a complete solution system from "device-module-system" in the field of automotive backlight.
At the light source device level, the company has developed a variety of automotive-grade LEDs such as 1515, 3030, 2016 and other direct-type and 3014, 4014 side-type LEDs for automotive backlight display applications. The products have all passed AEC-Q102 With automotive grade certification, it can maintain high light efficiency, low light attenuation, and high consistency in harsh automotive environments such as high temperature, high humidity, and complex vibration and impact, providing a stable and reliable independently developed light source solution for downstream module design.
In terms of module solutions, Jinko Electronics has launched a complete range of automotive backlight module solutions from 9.9 inches to 44 inches based on the three technical routes of Mini LED POB / COB / RGB Mini LED. The products have mature capabilities in light color consistency, process accuracy, yield management, structural design and cost optimization, and can meet the needs of large-scale and high-quality product delivery.

Among them, Jinko Electronics' 15.6-inch RGB Mini LED automotive backlight module solution uses R/G/B three-color light-emitting chips to independently control, combined with a light and color simultaneous control algorithm, to achieve accurate color restoration and uniform brightness output without relying on quantum dot film. It has 2688 independent control partitions and a million-level contrast ratio, and the picture quality effect is clear and delicate; the full-screen brightness exceeds 2000 nits, and the display is still clear in strong light environments; the NTSC color gamut covers more than 130%, presenting a more colorful and realistic visual effect, bringing users a high-quality smart cockpit visual experience.

Facing the trend of large-size integrated cockpits, Jinko Electronics has launched a 29.8-inch Mini LED COB splicing automotive backlight module solution. Through in-depth optimization of optical design, packaging process and driving solution, it collaborates with upstream and downstream partners to carry out collaborative innovation, effectively improving the reliability of quantum dot films in complex automotive environments, and achieving high color gamut display and automotive-grade performance requirements. At the same time, it adopts an ultra-thin design with OD≤2mm, which perfectly adapts to the integrated display solution of instrument, central control and passenger screen, achieving seamless visual extension and further improving the visual effect of the screen.
Looking forward to the future, Jinko Electronics will continue to increase investment in technology and product research and development, relying on the vertical integration advantages of the "device-module-system" entire industry chain, continue to promote the technological upgrade and large-scale application of Mini LED and RGB Mini LED in new display fields, and actively deploy next-generation display technologies such as Micro LED and AR+AI near-eye displays to provide customers with high-performance, high-reliability system-level solutions.
